Medals of TURKSOY awarded to scholars of the Al Farabi Kazak National University

Scholars of the Al Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) of Kazakhstan were awarded various medals by the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY).

Within the framework of their visit to the Al Farabi Kazakh National University, members ıf the delegation of  TURKSOY headed  by Secretary General Sultan Raev were also taken to the museum and the Farabi Library of the University where they were  briefly informed about the infrastructure of the institution of higher education.

TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev who also met with the Rector of the Al Farabi Kazakh National University Janseyit Tuymebayev exchanged views with him on opportunities of  further development of the mutual cooperation between the two organisations as well as on the implementation of wide-scope joint projects.

Mr.  Raev on the 30th anniversary of TURKSOY,  Rector  Tuymebayev also made some proposals for further expansion of the partnership and said:  "In 2024, our University will celebrate its 90th anniversary. I propose to organise a large-scale joint conference in honour of this important date. The Institute of Turkology and Altai Studies operates within the University. Currently, the Institute's experts are studying rare manuscripts and ancient books, conducting research and analysing valuable data and materials. In addition, the "Abay Scientific Research Institute" and the TURKSOY Department are successfully functioning. We have enough Turkologists in our university. Therefore, I propose to co-operate."

Emphasising that TURKSOY is willing to strengthen the existing cooperation between TURKSOY and the Al-Farabi University and is ready to support any initiative in this respect, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev said: "The Kazak National University (KazNU) is one of the leading universities not only in Kazakhstan but also in Central Asia. Hence,  I am sure that you will support the initiative we are planning to undertake tı organise a youth forum which  will bring together young people from all over the Turkic World. We would strongly appreciate it if KazNU  assumes an active role in this event."

Following the meeting, Sultan Raev handed over the medal of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of TURKSOY to the  author and winner of the "Alash" International Literary Prize,  Nurgali Oraz and to the  Press Secretary and Head of the Department of Information and Communication of KazNU Kanshayim Baydaulet for their contribution to the development of culture and art of the Turkic world.  Prof. Dr. Berikbay Sagındıkuly, Director of the Abay Scientific Research Institute, Prof. Dr. Jangar Dadebaev, Director of the Abay Scientific Research Institute, Prof. Dr. Jangar Dadebaev, Director of the Abay Scientific Research Institute, Prof. Dr. Berikbay Sagındıkuly. Prof. Dr. Jangar Dadebaev, Director of the Institute of Turkology and Altai Studies, Prof. Dr. Nursulu Shaymerdenova, the Head of the Department of Turkology and Language Theory, Prof. Dr. Raushangul Avakova, the Head of the Department of Kazakh Linguistics “Ahmet Baytursun” and Dr. Anarkul Salkınbay were handed over the medal of TURKSOY dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birthday of Ahmet Baytursınuly, the founder of Kazakh modern linguistics .
