Joyful celebration events held on the occasion of December 21st, the Day of Education in Turkish Language

December 21st, the Day of Education in Turkish Language for Turkic Peoples of Macedonia recognized in  1944 was celebrated with widescope events.

Upon publication of a decree on the celebration of  the Day of Education in Turkish Language in the Official Gazette of Macedonia on February 15th, 2007  as a result of initiatives taken in this regard, the traditional celebration of the Day of Turkish as Official Language of the Turkic people of Macedonia  took place with the participation of an even  larger audience than in previous years.

The celebrations organized by the Union of Turkic Non Governmental Organizations of Macedonia with the contribution of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) in 2022 gathered a delegation of MPs headed by the President of the  National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şentop along with the President of the Republic of North Macedonia  Dimitar Kovaçevski, the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Minister of Education, the Minister of Defence and the Minister of Health of the Republic of North Macedonia, the Deputy Secretary General of TURKSOY Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilal Çakıcı,  the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey in  Skopje Hasan Mehmet Sekizkök,  the President of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency Serkan Kayalar and the Director General of the Union of Turkic Non Governmental Organizations of Macedonia Tahsin Ibrahim along with more than ten thousand participants.

In the speech he delivered at the event, the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey conveyed the greetings, best wishes and congratulations of the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who shares the joy and sorrow of kindred Turkic peoples living all around the world  and speaks for them.

Mr. Şentop who also stressed the importance of the fact that Turkish is being used as educational language in North Macedonia added that he strongly appreciates efforts invested by his kindred people of North Macedonia in the preservation of Turkish language.

In the statement he delivered at the event on the occasion of his visit in in Skopje, Deputy Secretary General Çakıcı  said a few words on joint activities carried out in cooperation of Turkic peoples living in North Macedonia with the Secretariat General of  TURKSOY.

Deputy Secretay General Çakıcı who expressed his gratitude to North Macedonian authorities  said: “Official authorities of North Macedonia  have always provided their particular support to activities carried out by our  Secretariat General in North Macedonia”.

In the statement he delivered, Deputy Secretary General  Çakıcı also stressed that TURKSOY attaches particular importance to the promotion of tangible and intangible cultural heritage of kindred peoples living in Europe and the Balkans  as this is one of the most essential and important components of human life.

Within the framework of the event, winners of the competitions of “Children Drawing in Turkish” , “Poetry in Turkish” and  “Turkish Essay Writing in the Balkans” were handed over their awards.

The event went on with popular songs performed by  the famous artist Buray.
