Introductory Panel on Museums of the Turkic World held in Ashgabat

In partnership with the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and TURKSOY, the Turkic World Museums Promotion Panel was held in the city of Anev, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World for 2023. Experts from different museums of Turkmenistan, as well as museums from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Turkmenistan, TRNC, Tatarstan (R.F.) and Gagauzia (Moldova) participated in the event held at the ‘White Wheat’ Museum in Anev.


Speaking at the opening ceremony, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev underlined the importance of  activities carried out by  the Union of Museums of TURKSOY to transmit the common cultural heritage of the Turkic World to future generations and wished success to both, the participants of the panel and  members of the meeting in their work. In his speech, Secretary General Raev further noted that TURKSOY has taken an important step for the dissemination and preservation of the common culture of the Turkic World  throough the establishment of the Association of Museums of the Turkic World. Stating that this step will be personally followed up at highest  level by TURKSOY, Mr. Raev expressed his gratitude to  museum directors of the Turkic World for their efforts.
 

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chairman of the Association of Museums and Director of the State Museum of the State Cultural Centre of Turkmenistan Mr. Meretgeldi Tsariyev expressed his gratitude to TURKSOY and its Secretary General Sultan Raev for supporting activities of the Association throughout the year in the person as well as  to the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan for hosting the event. In his speech, Mr. Tsariyev also touched upon  activities carried out throughout the year and underlined the fruitful cooperation carried out in the field of museology in the Turkic World.
 

The panel composed of three sessions featured paper presentations by Dr. Cavid Mövsümlü, the General Coordinator of the Association of  Museums of  TURKSOY, Dr. Amalbek Omırtay, the Deputy Director of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mrs. Elmira Suerkulova, the Deputy Director of the Kyrgyz State Historical Museum, Dr. Durdona Rasulova, the Deputy Director of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Ali Haydar Atalar, the Director of the July 15th, Democracy Museum, Mr. Meretgeldi Çarıyev,  the Director of the State Museum of Turkmenistan, Mrs. Emine Emel, the Director of the  Museum of History, Culture and National Struggle of th Cyprus Turkish State Cultural Centre,  Mrs. Ludmila Marin, the  Director of the Gagauz National Museum of History and Ethnography, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ismet Zaatov, the Chief Researcher of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mr. Dörtgulu Rajabov, the Director of the  Great Saparmurat Turkmenbashi National White Wheat Museum of Turkmenistan, Mr. Maksat Kerimov, the  Director of the Museum ‘Sanctity of Homeland’, Mr.  Nurmırat Annacharıyev, the Director of the Arkadag City History and Local Ethnography Museum, Mrs. Gülbahar Yangıbayeva, the Director of the Museum of History and Local Ethnography of the  Lebap Province, Mr. Merdan Hıdırov, the Director of the Göktepe National Museum and  Mrs. Azatgül Hocaberdiyeva, the Director of the   Museum of History and Local Ethnography of the Balkan Province.


The panel ended with an evaluation session chaired by Mr. Meretgeldi Charıyev, the Director of the State Museum of the State Cultural Centre of Turkmenistan and Dr. Cavid Mövsümlü, the General Coordinator of the Association of Museums of TURKSOY followed by a questions and and answers' session during which guest participants made various proposals. 

 

At the end of the event, certificates of appreciation were handed over to  participants who contributed to the panel with their paper presentations. Later on  a visit to the monument of Seyit Jamalettin in the historical city of Anev was organized for guests who came from abroad as well as from various places  outside Ashbabat.
