Continuation of Intercultural Dialogue

The cultural theorist Jolanta Kilian is an artist who has been running intercultural projects in Central Asia since the 1990s and works in the fields of theatre and documentary film. Kilian came to Bishkek in 2005 with a series of conferences entitled “Theatre That Does Not Depart from History” and was involved in the co-production of the 1st International Central Asian Festival of Street Theatre held in 2007.

Kilian, who played an active role in the development of cultural cooperation between Poland and Kyrgyzstan, contributed to strengthening the cultural dialogue between the two countries by enabling Kyrgyz theatre artist Cıparisa Koçorbaeva and many young actors to participate in international festivals in Poland.

Social Solidarity Through Art

The workshop on the ‘Art of Street Theatre’ held in Bishkek approaches theatre not only as a performing art but also as a tool for social awareness and communication.

The aim of the event is to build a lasting basis for cultural cooperation by bringing together Kyrgyz artists and Polish theatre masters.
