International Theater Awards of TURKSOY
‘International Theatre Awards of TURKSOY 2024" were presented to distinguished theatre artists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus at the award ceremony held in Istanbul on February 3rd, 2025.
Every year, in cooperation with our Secretariat General and ‘Theatre’ Newspaper, ‘International Theatre Awards of TURKSOY’ are handed over to leading artists working in the field of theatre in the Turkic World in various categories at the International Ceremony of Anatolian Theatre Awards.
The ceremony, which was attended by TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, representatives of diplomatic missions in Istanbul, the Deputy Director General of State Theatres of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye Sükûn Işıtan, valuable theatre artists and art lovers, started with the opening speech of Nazif Uslu, founder of Theatre Newspaper. Uslu who expressed his pleasure to welcome his colleagues from abroad and from many cities of Türkiye further stated that this modest but wide-scope award ceremony held on their own stage was an opportunity to pay respect to all those who had worked for the art of theatre in Istanbul.
Welcoming the participants on behalf of TURKSOY, the International Organisation of Turkic Culture, Mr. Sultan Raev, Secretary General of TURKSOY, expressed his happiness to have come together with theatre artists at the 10th International Anatolian Theatre Awards Ceremony and gave brief information about activities of TURKSOY while also underlining that TURKSOY is an international culture and arts organisation carrying out cultural activities among Turkic peoples and states. Secretary General Raev who further stated that this is one of the most important projects carried out by TURKSOY in the field of Turkic culture and art as it has been strongly contributing to the development of theatre art added that this year, the 3rd International Theatre Festival of TURKSOY will be held in Aktau, Kazakhstan, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World and that the 3rd International Turkic World Student Theatre Festival will be held in Almaty. Secretary General Raev who also stressed that the cooperation between the theatres of the Turkic World is being further expanded every year through the work annually carried out by the General Assembly of Theatre Directors of TURKSOY Member States congratulated all the award-winning artists and wished them success in their work for the development of theatre in the Turkic World. Secretary General Raev concluded his speech expressing his gratitude to the Theatre Newspaper team and to all those who contributed to the organisation of this event.
Upon decision of the Board of the Theatre Newspaper of the International Anatolian Theatre Award, the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY, Intercultural Theatre Platform of Türkiye, the Union of Theatres of Thrace and Balkan Countries, the Association of Aegean Theatres and the Association of Eurasian Theatres awarded most successful artists and institutions according to their respective fields of activities.
Winners of ‘International Theatre Awards of TURKSOY 2024" from TURKSOY member countries who were handed over their awards at the ceremony held within the scope of the 10th International Anatolian Theatre Awards were as follows:
1. Azerbaijan State Artist, Theatre and Cinema Actor Fahrettin MANAFOV in the category of ‘Best Male Theatre Actor of the Turkic World’;
2. Kazakhstan Playwright Duman RAMAZAN in the category of ‘Best Theatre Playwright of the Turkic World’;
3. Ulanmyrza KARIPBAEV, Director of the K. Jantoshev Music Drama Theatre of Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan in the category ‘Best Theatre Director of the Turkic World’;
4. Jaloliddin RAHIMOV, Chief Artist of the State Music Theatre of Uzbekistan named after Mukimi, in the category ‘Best Decor Designer of the Turkic World’;
5. Turkey Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Performing Arts, Faculty Member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sibel ERDENK in the category of ‘Best Theatre Choreographer of the Turkic World’;
6. TRNC Theatre Actress Ayla HAŞMETLI in the category of ‘Best Female Theatre Actress of the Turkic World’.
