International Mumtaz Poetry Festival in Uzbekistan
The International Mumtaz Poetry Festival was held in Navoi, Uzbekistan. The festival organized in cooperation of the Authors' Union of Uzbekistan, with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Uzbekistan, the Governorate of Navoi Governorate and TURKSOY took place on March 29th-30th, 2023.
The most outstanding literary figures from the Turkic world and various regions of Uzbekistan were welcomed by the Governor of Navoi Normat Tursunov.
Various events were organised as part of the festival. The festival started with the laying of a garland at the monument of Ali Shir Navoi, the leading figure of the Turkic World, by the guests from abroad, local protocol and citizens of Navoi.
The festival was attended by Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Uzbekistan Bahodir Ahmedov, President of the Authors’ Union of Uzbekistan Sirojiddin Sayyid, President of the Authors’ Union of Uzbekistan Sirojiddin Sayyid, President of the Authors’ Union of Kazakhstan Ulugbek Esdaulet, President of the Authors’ Union of Azerbaijan and Honorary President of the Authors’ Union of TURKSOY Anar Ryzayev, Deputy President of the Authors’ Union of Azerbaijan Selim Babullaoğlu, President of the Authors’ Union of Kyrgyzstan Nurlanbek Kalybekov, President of the Authors’ Union of Eurasia Dr. Yakup Ömeroğlu, President of the Authors’ Union of Turkey Dr. Yakup Ömeroğlu, Vice President of the Authors’ Union of Turkey Muhammet Enes Kala, President of the Authors’ Union of Tatarstan (R.F.) Rail Zaydullin, President of the Authors’ Union of Bashkortostan (R.F.) Aygiz Baymuhametov, as well as famous poets and authors of the Turkic World Ismail Togan, Abduvahid Saidmatov, Samidin Stambekov, Burulkan Sarygulova, Topchugul Shaydullayeva, Düysenali Alimakın, Resat Macit and Nasibbek Aytuli.
Various events were also held within the framework of the festival. In addition to various conferences they attended at the festival, participants also visited historical sites of the city of Navoi, and got acquainted with the people of Navoi while also seizing the opportunity to watch traditional performances of the region.
Within the framework of the festival, in the “Marifet Park”, guests were shown the customs of "Sumalak", a symbol of unity and solidarity in Central Asia and known as a spring dessert, spring dishes were served, and folklore teams held concert programmes in Farhad Cultural Centre.
In addition, the Governor of Nevai Normat Tursunov and poets and authors from the Turkic world planted saplings in the "Memorial Forest" in Ali Shir Navoi Park.
Within the framework of the festival, the 100-volume book "Pearls of Turkic Literature" was presented
Within the framework of the festival, the 100-volume book "Pearls of Turkic Literature", which was prepared upon the proposal of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the 7th Summit of Heads of State of the Organisation of Turkic States held in Baku, Azerbaijan, and which brings together the most distinguished works of the Turkic World, was presented.
In his speech, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev said: "I would like to express my gratitude to the Authors’ Union of Uzbekistan, the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Ali Shir Navoi Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, the scientific board of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, poets, authors, editors and translators who contributed to the preparation of the book. I would also like to express my gratitude to the distinguished literary figures of the Turkic World for their support during the preparation process", he said and underlined that TURKSOY will organise promotional events of this unique work in the Republic of Turkey and other Turkic Republics as soon as possible.
More than 200 translators, more than 50 poets, authors, editors, artists and researchers actively took part in the preparation of the book "Pearls of Turkic Literature", which includes the masterpieces of the most famous poets and authors who lived in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Hungary from the ancient period of Turkic literature to the present day.
In addition to the book "Pearls of Turkic Literature", the 30-volume "Uzbek Navoi Studies of the Liberation Period", Ali Shir Navoi's "Hamsa" works published in Kazakh Turkic language also attracted great attention among readers.
