Gala Concert of the Opera Days of TURKSOY in Ankara
The Gala Concert of the 25th Opera Days of TURKSOY dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birthday of the first Azerbaijani female opera composer Şefika Akhundova was held took place at the State Opera and Ballet in Ankara.
The concert was attended by the Ambassador of Moldova to Ankara Dmitri Croitor, the Director of the Cultural Centre of Azerbaijan Samir Abbasov and the Cultural Attaché and Undersecretary of the Embassy of Kazakhstan Dinmukhamed Omirali along with art lovers from Ankara.
In the opening speech he delivered at the concert Mr. Tan Sağtürk, the General Director of the State Opera and Ballet said: ‘As in the past years, it is a great pleasure for us that our artists from different countries come together in joint projects with the unifying power of art. The opera days, festivals and commemorative concerts we have organised with sister countries such as Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus have strengthened the bond between us day by day. In 2024, we continued to reflect this sense of brotherhood through art in all international events we organised.’
Joint activities of artists of the Turkic World will shed light not only on today but also on the future
In his speech, Mr. Sagturk stressed the value of activities carried out in co-operation with TURKSOY and expressed his wish as to the further continuation of such activities.
Secretary General Sultan Raev, who is in Kyrgyzstan on the occasion of the gala concert, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Director General of the State Opera and Ballet of the Republic of Türkiye Mr. Tan Sagturk for his strong will to cooperate with TURKSOY and stated that TURKSOY, which gathers the artists of the Turkic World under the same roof, will continue such activities without slowing down.
At the gala concert featuring the Choir of the Directorate of the Ankara State Opera and Ballet along with the Orchestra thereof which accompanied lyrical artists Anton Ferstandt, Nina Makarova and Hosro Hakan Amiri from Azerbaijan, Yerlan Jandarbay and Ayazhan Kuanşaliyeva from Kazakhstan, Yuliya Babiç and Aizirek Mumunova from Kyrgyzstan, Shirin Mamatova from Uzbekistan, Kamil Kaplan from Türkiye, Nejla Egemen from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Ömer Türkmenoğlu from Iraq was conducted by Maestro Rustam Rahmedov from Turkmenistan and Maestro Yerbolat Ahmedyarov from Kazakhstan.
The concert was preceded by an exhibition featuring pictures of opera and ballet events organised by TURKSOY since 1993 at the entrance of the opera hall.
At the end of the concert, artists received standing ovations from the audience in Ankara and were offered flowers and plaquettes before a group photograph was taken as a remembrance of the day.
