Festival dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the birthday of the People's Artist of Kazakhstan Biken Rimova
The festival dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birthday of Biken Rimova, the People's Artist of Kazakhstan, laureate of the State Prize of the USSR and Kazakhstan organised with the support of TURKSOY, has come to an end. The festival held at the Kazakh Drama Theatre named after Biken Rimova took place between September 29th October 4th, 2023 and featured performances of theaters from Kazakhstan as well as various countries of the Turkic World including Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan which were strongly appreciated by the audience.
Awards won at the festival which took place on an international level were as follows:
- “Best Play Award”: The State Academic Children's and Youth Theatre of Kazakhstan for its performance of the play "The House of Bernarda Alba".
- “Special Award of B. Rimova”: The Kazakh Musical-Drama Theatre of the Pavlodar Region.
- "Best Director Award": Director Aydin Salban for the play "Atau-Kere" by the Saken Seyfullin Kazakh Drama Theatre
- "Best Actor Award": N. Janturin from the Mangistau Regional Musical Drama Theatre named after Jangazi Ryskul
- "Best Actress Award": Şynar Kaldybai from the Musical Young Audience Theatre,
- "Best Stage Design Award": Mekan Annamuradov, actor of the National Drama Theatre of Turkmenistan
- "Best Supporting Male Role": Sagyndyk Jumadil from the Kazakh Drama Theatre of Taldykorgan
- "Best Supporting Female Role": Gunesh Mehdiyeva from the "Yug" State Theatre of Azerbaijan, and,
-"Best Promising Talent Award": Makpal Kasenova from the “New Century Theatre” in Almaty
While TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev also handed over awards and certificates of appreciation of TURKSOY to some theatre ensembles within the framework of the festival, the Governor of the Jetisu Region, presented a certificate of appreciation to art ensembles which took part in the festival with the support of TURKSOY.
As the festival which lasted six days was a great success in terms of the strengthening of mutual ties of friendship, organizers of the event decided to continue holding such events in the future given the fact that they also contribute to the fostering of cooperation between Turkic States through cultural and artistic activities.
