Female Painters of the Turkic World came together in Tashkent
The Exhibition of Female Painters of the Turkic World organized in cooperation with TURKSOY within the framework of the International Festival of Visual Arts, took place in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, from April 22nd to 25th, 2025. The exhibition which took place for the first time in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan held last year was hosted by Uzakistan this time.
The event, initiated by TURKSOY General Secretary Sultan Raev with a view to becoming a tradition, brought together female painters from TURKSOY member countries. Twenty-one female painters from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, and the host country Uzbekistan showcased their works to art enthusiasts during the festival.
The closing ceremony of the exhibition, organized in cooperation with the Badi Academy of Uzbekistan was attended by TURKSOY General Secretary Sultan Raev and the President of the Badi Academy Akmal Nur as well as many art enthusiasts.
Speaking at the ceremony, TURKSOY General Secretary Sultan Raev expressed his satisfaction with the successful organization of this meaningful exhibition, which strengthens cultural solidarity among the Turkic World, and stated the following:
“Through our multifaceted efforts in the fields of culture and art, TURKSOY continues to promote the shared values of the Turkic World at an international level. Following the magnificent opening ceremony we held in Aktau, the 2025 Turkic World Culture Capital, we are now delighted to see female painters from across the Turkic World come together in Tashkent to strengthen our cultural bonds. I would also like to thank Uzbekistan's Minister of Culture, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, for his significant contributions to the realization of this event. We are deeply proud to see that this beautiful cooperation, which began last year in Bishkek, is going on in Tashkent.”
Following his speech, Secretary General Raev presented Certificates of Appreciation to all the artists who contributed to the exhibition as well as to the supporting institutions. In his statement, Mr. Raev also announced that, as a result of talks with the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, the Exhibition of Female Painters of the Turkic World will be held in Baku in 2026 and will be included in TURKSOY's traditional activities.
Akmal Nur, the President of the Uzbekistan Badi Academy, who also took the floor at the ceremony, expressed his pleasure to contribute to the cultural unity of the Turkic World and handed over a Certificate of Appreciation to Secretary General Sultan Raev.
Art lovers who visited Tashkent during the exhibition welcomed the works of female painters with great interest and had the opportunity to get acquainted with the common spirit of the Turkic World in the field of contemporary art. The event, which was closely followed by TRT Avaz and the Uzbek press, was among the most notable programs of the Tashkent Visual Arts Festival.
