Events held on the margins of the 6th World Nomadic Games gathered 65 Countries
Artists, intellectuals and representatives of traditional arts from 65 countries came together at events organised within the framework of the 6th World Nomadic Games held in Kyrgyzstan. International and national competitions, a traditional market and traditional arts’ performances along with the ethno-cultural village ‘World of Nomads’ set up on the Kyrchyn Plateau raised great interest among visitors.
Over 3,000 people, including 430 visitors from abroad attended the 6th World Nomadic Games which featured 10 international competitions held in ethnic dance, ethnic fashion, vocal performance, handicrafts, epic storytelling and world cuisines.
Thirteen national competitions, aimed at the promotion of the cultural heritage of Kyrgyzstan were a significant part of the event.
Approximately 1,200 people, 400 of whom were on horseback, took part in the “Caravan of Unity” event organised as part of the Games. The traditional market featured traditional products, handicrafts and cultural values by 38 international participants from 26 countries and 320 local participants.
The event also attracted significant interest from the press media represented by 1,300 members including 400 local and 250 foreign television staff who covered the Games.
Winners of the “Echo of Nomads” competition
The Grand Prix of the “Echo of Nomads” International Ethnic Music Competition held within the framework of the 6th World Nomadic Games was won by Nurdo lot Derkembayev from Kyrgyzstan.
While Vasil Angelov from North Macedonia was awarded the first place, Jasmin Tleumbetova from Kazakhstan came second and Thami Mbatha from South Africa and Ngo Chau Anh from Vietnam shared the third place. The Audience Choice Award went to Odmandakh Bayaraa from Mongolia.
Storytellers of nomadic culture were honoured
In the epic storytelling competition held under the motto ‘Nomadic Heritage’, the Grand Prix went to Nurjan Tumonbayeva from Kyrgyzstan.
The first place of the competition was shared by Rasulbek Abdurahmanov from Uzbekistan and Aidun Magamedov from the Republic of Dagestan (RF). While Park Sein from the Republic of Korea and Jasulan Yesimhan from Kazakhstan came second, Vitaliy Nikiforov from the Republic of Saha (Yakutia) in the Russian Federation and Janat Kanat uulu from Kyrgyzstan were awarded the third place.
Special awards were also presented to participants from Kazakhstan, the Altai Republic, Azerbaijan and Karakalpakstan.
The Grand Prix for Instrumental Music went to Azerbaijan
In the competition of instrumental music, the Grand Prix went to Mehri Asadullayeva from Azerbaijan, while Beksultan Abdilakimov from Kyrgyzstan and the trio “Kartikeya and Tridev Live” from India were awarded the first prize.
At the competition, Anvarjon Normatov from Tajikistan and the ‘Kausar’ ensemble from Kazakhstan came second, while Nguyen Thi Trung from Vietnam and the ‘Qaibar’ ensemble from Kyrgyzstan won the third place.
Special awards went to artists from Iran, Mongolia, Hungary and Russia.
Special award for Abdullatif Bolat from Türkiye
The Grand Prix of the vocal-instrumental music competition went to Damdın Dalay from the Tuva Republic of the Russian Federation.
While Daniyar Abylabek uulu from Kyrgyzstan and Osei Korankye Abena Serwaa from Ghana came first, Irina Kiskorova from Russia and the “Marifat Sufi Band” from Pakistan won the second place and Baglan Babijan from Kazakhstan and Dilfuza Nurmetova from Uzbekistan came third.
Abdullatif Bolat, the artist representing Türkiye in the competition, received the special award of the jury. Participants from New Zealand, Kyrgyzstan and the Netherlands were also among those who received special prizes.
The Kyrchyn Plateau became a hub for nomadic culture
The ‘World of Nomads’ ethno cultural village, established on the Kyrchyn Plateau, became one of the main centres showcasing traditional culture at the 6th World Nomadic Games.
A total of 1,331 participants from seven regions of Kyrgyzstan, the cities of Bishkek and Osh, and various civil society organisations showcased their skills in 13 national competitions.
The competitions, which covered music, dance, handicrafts, traditional costumes, national traditions, regional cuisine, felt tent construction and nomadic lifestyle culture, brought together the rich cultural heritage of the Kyrgyz people.
Artists, craftsmen, communities and regions that excelled in competitions held in various categories – such as ‘Nomadic Melodies’, ‘Rhythm of Dance’, ‘Masterful Hands’, ‘Traditional Costumes’, ‘National Traditions’, ‘Nomadic Delicacies’ and ‘Best Kyrgyz Boz Maker’ – received various awards.
The cultural part of the 6th World Nomadic Games served as an important international gathering in terms of the preservation of traditional arts, the strengthening of intercultural exchange and the transmission of the shared heritage of nomadic peoples to future generations.
