Drivers of the Silkroad Rally "From the Danube River to the Orkhon Valley" arrived in Bishkek
The "Silk Road Rally from the Danube River to the Orkhon Valley", organised in cooperation of TURKSOY with the East West Friendship and Peace Rally Association on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), started from Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria and reached Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan.
Five cars and one motorcycle driver who are taking part in the rally travelled approximately 10 thousand kilometers along the route of the historical Silk Road and arrived in Bishkek, their first stop in Kyrgyzstan. Participants of the rally gathered in front of the government building of Kyrgyzstan before travelling to Osh, the last stop of the Rally.
The Head of the Department of Administrative, Financial and Legal Affairs of TURKSOY, Mr. Sancar Mülazımoğlu said that the project aims to promote and share cultures, historical sites and social traditions and customs of people living along the Silk Road route. Reminding of the fact that the Rally which was held in 2022 for the first time is being organised for the second time this year, Mr. Mülazımoğlu added that this edition of the Silkroad Rally is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of TURKSOY.
Mr. Mülazımoğlu who further stressed that the Rally was initially supposed to end in the Orkhon Valley also said: "We could unfortunately not end the Rally in Orkhon this year as visas could not be obtained from some countries. This is why the final destination of our Rally this year will be the city of Osh. If God will, we hope to reach Orkhon in the coming years."
Mr. Nadir Serin, the organiser of the Silkroad Rally and President of the East West Friendship and Peace Rally Association, stated that they started the rally on August 19th, 2023 via video conference, met in Sofia on August 21st and set off from Sofia on August 22nd, 2023.
Mr. Serin who further stated that they travelled to Kyrgyzstan via Turkey, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan also explained that the final destination of the rally will be Osh city where they will arrive after leaving Bishkek. Mr. Serin said: "The project will be successful because we are working with state institutions and strong organisations. We do strongly appreciate and will never forget the unconditional support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey which claimed ownership of this project along with embassies in the countries we travelled through." and concluded his statement saying: “We are happy to introduce ourselves to countries located on the historical Silk Road and peoples living therein.”
Departing from Bishkek to Osh city, participants of the rally were seen-off by the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Turkey in Bishkek Şifa Gökberk Kutlu along with other officials in front of the government building.
After taking a tour around the city, participants set off for Osh city which is the final destination of the Silkroad Rally located 620 kilometres away from Bishkek.
