Cultural Days of Azerbaijan in Kyrgyzstan
Cultural Days of which started on April 20th in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, will continue until April 25th with a variety of colourful of events.
The events, organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan, with the support of the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY, strengthen cultural cooperation between the two countries.
The opening ceremony was held with a grand gala concert in Bishkek. The delegation of about 180 people from Azerbaijan included artists, authors, scholars and cultural representatives. The concert of the Mugham Ensemble, attracted great interest among the audience.
As part of events held on April 21st, a special exhibition of books donated by the National Library of Azerbaijan was opened at the Alıkul Osmonov National Library of Kyrgyzstan. On the same day, the book of “Selected Works by Bahtiyar Vahabzade” published by TURKSOY and dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birthday of the famous Azerbaijani poet Bahtiyar Vahabzade was presented.
After a short documentary on Vahabzade, works composed of the poet's poems were performed at the presentation event. An Azerbaijani artist read Vahabzade's poems accompanied by music. The event ended with the handover of plaquettes to those who contributed to the event.
In his speech, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev emphasized the importance of Vahabzade for the Turkic World and said:
"Bahtiyar Vahabzade, who has been the voice of his nation throughout his entire artistic life, is the common value of the Turkic World. His works are the common heritage not only of Azerbaijan but also of all Turkic peoples. We are happy if we can convey the national spirit and cultural bond to young generations through his poems."
The events were attended by the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Adil Kerimli, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan Aynura Askarova and Heads of national libraries of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan as well as authors, poets and many guests .
Cultural Days of Azerbaijan are going on with concerts, exhibitions and interviews in Bishkek.
