Cultural Ambassadors of the Turkic World Honored in Astana: Dimash Kudaibergen Receives Highest Award
In line with its activities to strengthen the cultural ties of the Turkic World and introduce its common heritage to the world, TURKSOY honored famous artists in a ceremony held in Astana. At the ceremony, the Kazakh People's Artist Dimash Kudaibergen was awarded the “Medal of Cultural Ambassador of the Turkic World” considered as the highest honor award of TURKSOY in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the development of the culture of the Turkic World; while Mrs. Samal Yeslyamova received the “Best Artist of the Turkic World” award.
Second Cultural Ambassador: Dimash Kudaibergen
Mr. Dimash Kudaibergen, who transcends borders with his art and reaches out to millions, went down in history as the second recipient of this meaningful honor. This title, previously awarded to Nobel Prize-winning scientist Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar stands as a testimony to Kudaibergen's diplomatic and artistic mission on behalf of Turkic culture.
Sharing his feelings while receiving the award, the artist emphasized that the greatest reward for an artist is the support of the people and said: “I consider this award an important sign of the strengthening of diplomatic relations between our countries. This honor is not only for me, but also a courtesy shown to the entire Kazakh people.”
Samal Yeslyamova, Symbol of Cinema
Mrs. Samal Yeslyamova, senior artist and world-renowned actress of Kazakhstan, was deemed worthy of TURKSOY's special award for her unique contributions to Turkic and world cinema. Yeslyamova's success in the field of cinema, which has introduced the cultural depth of the Turkic World worldwide has been described as a symbol of the rising value of Turkic World cinema.
Secretary General Raev: Art Unites the Turkic World
Speaking at the ceremony, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev highlighted the critical role of the award recipients in creating a common cultural space.
Defining art as a bridge that truly unites the Turkic World, Secretary General Raev stated: "Today, we honor the personalities who unite the Turkic World through art with bonds of affection. While Dimash Kudaibergen has taken on the mission of a cultural ambassador through his music, Samal Yeslyamova has become a symbol of Kazakh cinema. These awards are a tribute to their great efforts."
Mr. Aybek Sydykov, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Information, who attended the ceremony on behalf of Mrs. Aida Balayeva, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, emphasized that the artists' achievements are of great importance not only for Kazakh art but also for the strengthening of cultural ties among countries of the Turkic World.
