Conference on "Haydar Aliyev and the Turkic World" was held in Astana

On May 3rd, 2023, an international conference "Heydar Aliyev and the Turkic World" dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev was held at the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event, jointly organised by the International Turkic Academy and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, was attended by the President of the International Turkic Academy Prof. Dr. Shahin Mustafayev,  the President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Mrs. Gunay Efendiyeva,  TURKSOY Secretary General  Sultan Raev, the Minister of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Darhan Kıdırali, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Tumış, the MP of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmet Babaoğlu, the former member of the Council of Wisemen of the OTS, Ambassaor Mırzatay Joldasbekov, representatives of diplomatic missions of member states of the OTS in Kazakhstan along with members of the Parliament of the Republic of  Kazakhstan and scholars.

The event started with the screening of a documentary film about the life and work of the late Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev.

Opening the event, Mr. Shahin Mustafayev noted that President Heydar Aliyev was a brilliant leader who opened up wide opportunities for the development of his country and people and made a significant contribution to the creation of Turkic cooperation organizations serving the integration of brotherly countries.

TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev who also took the floor at the event  noted that throughout his term in office as President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people and one of the most important and valuable figures of the Turkic world, attached great importance to the development of ties between Turkic states and peoples in the field of culture and arts as well as in all other fields. Stating that the late Heydar Aliyev was not only a national leader, but also a common leader of the Turkic World, Secretary General Raev said: "I see him as an architect of the Turkic World, standing at the origins of Turkic unity, he is a person who really changed the history of Turkic peoples."

Secretary General  Raev further said :

"Heydar Aliyev came together three times with the members of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of TURKSOY and gave them his valuable advice. When I was the Minister of Culture of Kyrgyzstan, I had the honour to meet Heydar Aliyev as a participant of one of these meetings and listen to him live. In this meeting Heydar Aliyev underlined that TURKSOY is one of the leading Turkic organizations uniting everyone and that priority should be first given to the development of cultural ties and language among Turkic peoples."
