Condolence message of Secretary General Raev following the passing away of Elçin Efendiyev

It is with deep sorrow that I have been informed about the passing of Elçin Efendiyev, one of the most distinguished figures of Azerbaijani literature and culture, a valued author and statesman.

Elçin Efendiyev, one of the most important figures of literature in the Turkic World, left an indelible mark on the collective memory of our nation through the works he wrote throughout his career of  more than half a century, and made invaluable contributions to the literary heritage of Azerbaijan and the entire Turkic World. His unforgettable works, such as Mahmut and Meryem, Ak Deve (The White Camel), and Ölüm Hükmü (Death Sentence) have marked our memories.

Serving his nation as an author and public service official, Efendiyev played an important role in the cultural development of Azerbaijan and the strengthening of the spirit of unity in the Turkic World.

Hence, I hereby express my deepest condolences to his family and beloved ones as well as to the people of Azerbaijan and the entire Turkic World.

May his soul rest in peace.
