Commemorative event dedicated to Abdurrahim Karakoç

Abdurrahim Karakoç, one of the most valuable authors of Turkish literature, whose heartfelt verses have touched the hearts of many, will be commemorated by TURKSOY on the anniversary of his passing.

The event, which will take place on May 15, 2025, at Hacı Bayram Veli University, will bring together members of the Karakoç family and many prominent  sccholars and artists. During the event, Bayram Bilge Tokel, a master of Turkish folk music, will perform live, bringing Abdurrahim Karakoç's works to life once again.

Live performances will be preceded by the opening of a special photography exhibition  and a documentary.

Secretary General Sultan Raev: “Remembering Abdurrahim Karakoç is preserving our cultural identity.”

In a statement he delivered  prior to the event, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev emphasized the importance of keeping Abdurrahim Karakoç's legacy alive and invited all art lovers to the event, saying:

"Abdurrahim Karakoç touched not only words with his pen, but also the conscience of the nation. Keeping his legacy alive is not only preserving our literature, but also our cultural identity. He left a unique mark on Turkish poetry not only with “Mihriban,” but also with his satires that deeply affected the people and his verses that appealed to national sentiments. We consider this special program on May 15 to be an important event in terms of introducing our cultural heritage to future generations."
