Commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birthday of the Kazak author Berdibek Sokpakbaev

Within the framework of the 100th anniversary of the birthday of the famous author Berdibek Sokpakbaev,  commemorative events held in different regions of the Turkic world went on in Almaty. 
 

The event started with a theatre performance at the Almaty Culture House and continued with the performance of ‘aytış’, which is known as the mutual quarrel of folk bards, and the opening ceremony of the monument erected in memory of the great writer. 
 

Chairman of the Senate M. Ashimbayev, Governor of Almaty M. Sultangaziev, President of the Writers' Union of Kazakhstan M. Kulkenov made speeches in the programme of the event.  In their speeches, the great contribution of TURKSOY in making the name of Berdibek Sokpakbaev a well-known writer not only in the Turkic world but also around the world was emphasised. Ulugbek Esdevlet, President of the Union of Writers of TURKSOY and K. Mukanov, Chief Advisor to the Secretary General of TURKSOY took the floor at the event and in his speech he underlined that Berdibek Sokpakbaev was a gift of the Turkic World to the universal human culture of the Turkic World, that the works of the writer are known worldwide and expressed his satisfaction with the organisation of the commemoration event for Sokpakbaev in Almaty. Speaking about the role of Sokpakbaev in world literature, the educational importance of the author's works, he noted that upon initiative of TURKSOY and with the special efforts and follow-up of TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, Sokpakbaev's works were introduced to readers in Istanbul, Ankara and UNESCO (Paris) and will be further promoted throuhout the year 2024.
