Commemoration of Chingis Aitmatov in Ankara

In memory of Chingiz Aitmatov, a commemorative event was organized in cooperation of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic with the  Municipality of  Keçiören and TURKSOY.
 

The event which gathered representatives of the municipality, diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Peru, Russia and  Turkmenistan amongst other countries as well as representatives of TURKSOY and art lovers in Ankara was held in the  Park of the  Municipality of Keçiören, where a statue of the author is located.

The Mayor of Keçiören Mesut Özarslan, the 2nd Secretary of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Türkiye Aybek Akaev and other participants emphasised the role and importance of Aitmatov's works for the Turkic World and humanity. Chingiz Aitmatov's son,  Sancar Aitmatov who  expressed his gratitude to the organisers of the commemorative event  also recalled that Aitmatov highly valued the love of the Turkish people and government and said: ‘Here, in Türkiye, I feel the warmth of human hearts.’
 

The event ended with a performance of traditional songs by the Honorary Artist of Kyrgyzstan Nasipa Hanım and her students who also played the ‘Song’ of Ilyas, the protagonist of the work ‘Goncagül with a Red Cap’ by Mrs. Tumar on the komuz.
