Chingis Aitmatov and Baken Kıdıkeeva, two famous personalities from Kyrgyzstan, were commemorated in Nigde

A commemoration event was held at Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, Şehit Ömer Halisdemir Congress and Culture Centre, in memory of the 95th anniversary of the birthday of the world-famous Kyrgyz author Chingis Aitmatov and the 100th anniversary of the birthday of  People's Artist of Kyrgyzstan and actress Baken Kıdıkeeva.

Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Uslu, Niğde Deputy Mayor of Niğde Ahmet Taciroğlu, Kyrgyzstan's Country Representative to TURKSOY Prof. Dr. Kanat Mambetaliyev, Head of TURKSOY Administrative, Financial and Legal Affairs Department Sancar Mülazımoğlu, academic and administrative staff of the University and many students attended the programme organised in cooperation with TURKSOY, Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University and the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Ankara.

The event started with the opening of Chingiz Aitmatov and Baken Kydykeyeva Photography Exhibition in the foyer area. Afterwards, a minute of silence and the National Anthem were recited, and after the screening of the documentary on the life of Chingis Aitmatov, the Manas Epic was performed by nine-year-old Aras Bulut Selvi.

 
The Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Uslu, who made the opening speech at the programme, said: “Cengiz Aitmatov is undoubtedly the first name that comes to mind when it comes to Kyrgyz literature. However, his name is not limited to Kyrgyzstan, which is a part of the Turkish World. Aitmatov is the voice of Turkicness and Turkic literature all over the world. While telling about true love in ”Jamila", love and sacrifice in "Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım", nature and human relationship in "Mother Earth", he also introduced the culture and social values of the Kyrgyz people to the readers in these works."

Hasan Uslu stated that another important name commemorated within the scope of our commemoration programme was Kyrgyz People's Artist Baken Kıdıkeyeva and said: "Kıdıkeeva is a very important folk artist raised by the brotherly Kyrgyz people. As you know, at the 39th Meeting of the Permanent Council of TURKSOY, the year 2023 was declared as the year of commemoration of the cherished memory of Baken Kydykeeva. It is a great pleasure for us that a commemorative program is being held at our University for this international pride of Kyrgyzstan in the fields of cinema and theatre."

The Head of Administrative, Financial and Legal Affairs Department of TURKSOY Sancar Mülazımoğlu also delivered a speech at the programme. Beginning his speech with greetings on behalf of TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, Mülazımoğlu stated that the Organisation introduces outstanding personalities who made unique contributions to the cultural heritage of the Turkic World to young generations by organising commemorative events.

Mülazımoğlu further  said: "Today, we commemorate two stars of the Turkic World at Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University, with whom we have been carrying out various cultural events for several years. The first one is Cengiz Aitmatov in the 95th anniversary of his birth, and the second one is Baken Kydykeyeva in the 100th anniversary of his birth. Both of them are valuable, pioneering personalities raised by the Turkic World, who have written their names in golden letters on the pages of history."

In the event,  the People's Artist of Kyrgyzstan Nasira Mambetova performed a monologue show, while voice artist Gulira Kasımkulova and komuz artist Nasiba Kalmamatova performed a music concert.

The programme ended with the handover of souvenirs and a group photograph taken as a remembrance of the day.
