8th International Congress of the World Society for the Study, Protection and Dissemination of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan

The 8th International Congress of the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Dissemination of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan (WOSCU), held this year under the motto ‘The Heritage of the Great Ancestors - the Foundation of the Third Renaissance’, began with the participation of about 400 scholars.

The four-day Congress which is hosted by the cities of Tashkent and Samarkand each year aims to promote the path of cultural and humanitarian development of the new Uzbekistan, the achievements of the new era of ascension and reforms in the religious-educational sphere, to increase effective cooperation between local scholars and international experts to research, preserve and disseminate the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Uzbekistan.

This year, the congress organised by the Islamic Civilisation Centre in Uzbekistan in cooperation with TURKSOY features panel dicussions on the role of  ‘Media and Cinema in the Preservation of Cultural Heritage’.

The congress will take place with the participation of  TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev, the Director General of the Islamic Research Centre for History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) Mahmud Erol Kilic, the Executive Director of the ‘Al-Furqan’ Islamic Heritage Foundation Sali Shahsivari, the President of the International Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, Professor Frederik Starr, the founder and President of the  Institute of Central Asia and Caucasus and Mr. Ahmad Salim, the founder and Chief Producer of the project ‘1001 Discoveries of Islamic Scholars’, along with nearly 400 scholars from 35 countries of the world as well as  museum and library directors, representatives of international and foreign organisations.
