80th birthday of Polad Bülbüloğlu celebrated with a concert held under the motto "Comeback"
On February 4th, the Heydar Aliyev Palace in Baku hosted a spectacular concert held under the motto ‘Comeback’ dedicated to the 80th birthday of Polad Bülbüloğlu, the famous Azerbaijani singer, composer, people's artist, Chairman of the Cultural Committee of the Milli Mejlis of Azerbaijan and founding Director General of TURKSOY.
State and government officials, deputies, art lovers and many guests who admire Bülbüloğlu's music attended the event organised by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan. The host of the evening announced that upon decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated February 3rd, 2025, Polad Bulbuloglu was awarded the Order of ‘Fatherland Service’ of the 1st degree and read the text of the decree. The special representative of the Russian President for international cultural relations Mikhail Shvidkoy also conveyed congratulatory messages of the President, Prime Minister and members of the government of Russia to the artist.
The concert where Polad Bulbuloglu performed his works and Azerbaijani folk songs which captured the hearts of the audience for many years also featured performances of famous artists of Azerbaijan Samir Jafferov, the Director of Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre Yusif Eyvazov, soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre of Moscow Yusif Eyvazov, Elchin Azizov, Dinara Aliyeva, People's Artist of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan Ferruh Zekirov and the senior artist of Azerbaijan Nergiz Kerimova.
Accompanied by famous pianists and folk artists Farhad Bedelbeyli and Murad Adygozelzade, ‘Ave Maria’ (duet with Dinara Aliyeva) and ‘Dear Canan’ received great applause from the audience.
‘Uzundere’, “Sarı Gelin” and other folk dances performed by the Azerbaijan State Dance Ensemble (artistic director: People's Artist Rüfet Halilzade) were highly appreciated. The artists were accompanied by the Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli under Maestro Murtuza Bulbul. The concert was directed by the senior ballet dancer Eteri Ceferova and Javid Imamverdiyev.
Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev who also attended the event congratulated Mr. Polad Bulbuloglu and stressed that he was an important artist and cultural figure not only for Azerbaijan but also for the entire Turkic World, and noted that his name has entered the common history of the Turkic World as the founder of TURKSOY, an international organisation with the mission to preserve and promote the common culture and civilisation of the Turkic World.
The event which began with the song of the artist ‘Sen Azerbaijan’ and ended with his unforgettable song ‘Odlar Yurdum Benim’ left unforgettable memories in the hearts of the audience who was taken onto a magnificent journey through 80 years of artistic achievements of the famous composer who enriched the music culture of Azerbaijan with his work.
