7th International Festival of Traditional Epic Legends held in Kyrgyzstan
The opening ceremony of the 7th International Festival of Traditional Epics of the World dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the Birthday of Chingiz Aitmatov, the great Kyrgyz author and common cultural value of the Turkic World, as well as to the 125th anniversary of the great Kazak author Mukhtar Auezov took place in the central square of the ancient city of Osh of Kyrgyzstan.
The opening ceremony of the7th International Festival of Traditional Epics of the World gathered the Secretary of State of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Suyunbek Kasmambetov, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic (Jogorku Kenesh) Mrs. Jamilya Isaeva, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, Youth and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Kayrat Imanaliev, the Secretary General of the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) Mr. Sultan Raev, the Deputy Mayor of Osh Mr. Nurbek Kadyrov and the Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in Osh Mr. Elchibek Jantaev along with representatives of foreign countries, scholars from kindred Turkic Republics and members of the press media.
At the event, the State Secretary of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Suyunbek Kasmambetov read the congratulatory letter of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Sadyr Japarov emphasizing the importance of epics for the development of the common culture of all nations. TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev who also took the floor at the event stressed that the epic "Manas" is a unique masterpiece not only of the Kyrgyz people but also of the Turkic world.
The event also featured the opening of the ethno-city "Kyrgyz migration" and the exhibition of handicrafts along with typical components of Kyryz culture such as "Tündük Lifting" (tent chimney) and "Tuşoo Kesmek" (the ceremony of celebrating the first step of the baby).
The 7th International Festival of World Folk Epics ended with an ethno concert featuring ensembles from the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and Republics of the Russian Federation; Altai, Tyva, Sakha (Yakutia) and Khakassia.
The festival which will last until May 20th, 2023 will feature representatives from 30 countries who will participate in competitions to be held in various categories such as "Narrator's Text in Time and Space", "Fashion Migration". Within the framework of the festival, where traditional games will also be played, folklore ensembles of the Khakass and Tyva Republics will take the scene.
