41st Anniversary of the arrival of the Kyrgyz Turkic people of Ulupamir
TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Sayit Yusuf participated in the "Ulupamir Cultural Feast" organised in the Erciş district of Van.
The cultural part of the "Ulupamir Cultural Festival", which was planned to be held on the 41st anniversary of the arrival of the Ulupamir Kyrgyz people who migrated from the Pamir Plateau of Afghanistan in 1982 and settled in the Erciş district of Van was cancelled due to the martyrdom of Enes Kırmızıkoç from Erciş and the passing away of the wiseman from Ulupamir Mr. Haşim Adıgüzel.
TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Sayit Yusuf, who visited Ulupamir and met with Kyrgyz wisemen of Ulupamir stressed that the Kyrgyz people of Ulupamir are one of the most important communities that inhabit Turkey. Stating that they make a unique contribution to the development of relations between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan and the rapprochement between two kindred peoples, Deputy Secretary General Sayit Yusuf said that TURKSOY will further contribute to cultural activities they carry out.
Deputy Secretary General Yusuf also handed over a medal dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of TURKSOY to Mr. Muhammed Arif Kutlu, the son of Rahmankul Khan and Mr. Ayt Mehmet Ulu, the wiseman of the Kyrgyz people of the region.
In the meeting, a traditional Kyrgyz “ chapan” was offered to Mr. Sait Yusuf.
