21st International Festival of Tourism and Art in Alanya
The festival started with a Yuruk Migration and Cortege March in front of the Atatürk Memorial which gathered Ambassador Mehmet Süreyya Er, the Secretary General of TURKPA, Prof. Dr. Şahin Mustafayev, the President of the Turkic Academy, Ambassador Günay Efendiyeva, the President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, Dr. Ömer Kocaman, the Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, Mr. Kemal Ün, Chief Advisor to the Secretary General of TURKSOY, Mr. Fatih Ürkmezer, the District Governor of Alanya, the Mayor of Alanya Mr. Adem Murat Yücel along with delegations from Alanya's sister cities as well as political party representatives, heads of chambers and associations and protocol members as well as tens of thousands of citizens.
The colourful Yuruk Migration featured many cultural and traditional values unique to Alanya. Citizens of Alanya supported the Yuruk Migration along Bostancıpınarı Street and Iskele Street with their applause.
Greeting the participants on behalf of TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev at the opening of the festival, Mr. Kemal Ün said: "Celebrating the 30th anniversary of its foundation and participating in this event for the first time, TURKSOY is honoured to be in close cooperation with Alanya Municipality in the field of Turkic Culture and Art.
On behalf of TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan RAEV, who unites and represents the Ministers of Culture of 14 Turkic States, we would like to express our gratitude to the Mayor of Alanya Mr. Adem Murat Yücel for his significant contribution to the efficient promotion of Turkic Culture."
While guests invited to the event visited the Festival Area along with Yurtas of Turkic States, protocol members visited the festival area after the official opening ceremony. The protocol members, who examined the photo exhibitions set up for the festival, also visited yurtas set up for Turkic States and had the opportunity to see and taste traditional garments and local foods of Turkic States in the tents placed around the giant Yuruk yurta set up in the centre. The exhibition stands introducing activities carried out by Turkic Cooperation Organizations will be open to visitors for three days.
Gala Dinner with Sister Cities and Representatives of Turkic Republics
The visit of the exhibitions and yurtas in the festival area was followed by a Gala Dinner for the delegations coming from sister cities of Alanya and the Representatives of the Member Countries of the Organization of Turkic States. The Gala Dinner, which has become a tradition, featured many typical dishes of Alanya. The Mayor of Alanya Mr. Adem Murat Yücel who said a few words at the Gala Dinner handed over some gifts to the visitors and expressed his happiness to be welcoming them in Alanya.
