Literature experts and authors of the Turkic World came together at the Festival of Baku
Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan hosted the "First Festival of Literature and Books of the Turkic World" gathering authors of the Turkic World.
The festival held in cooperaton of TURKSOY with the Authors' Union of Azerbaijan, the Baku State University, the International Turkic Academy, the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, the Presidency of Turks and Kindred Communities of the Republic of Turkey living abroad and the Yunus Emre Institute took place between May 26th-28th, 2022 and gathered a large audence of university students amongst others.
The festival which took place in the presence of the Deputy Secretary General of TURKSOY Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilal Çakıcı began with opening speeches of the Chairman of the Auhtors' Union of Azerbaijan Anar Rzayev, the Rector of the Baku State University Elçin Babayev, the President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Günay Efendiyeva, the Deputy President of the International Turkic Academy Dr. Füzuli Mecidli, the Chairman of ILESAM Mehmet Nuri Parmaksız and the Chairman of the Social Committee of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan Dr. Genire Pashayeva.
In the speech he delivered at the festival, the Deputy Secretary General of TURKSOY Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilal Çakıcı said that literature is one of the most important components of our culture contributing to the education of intellectual generations and fostering our natonal identity while also building bridges of solidarity among Turkic peoples thanks to the development, preservation and correct transmission of our language to future generations.
Deputy Secretary General Çakıcı who also touched upon illustrious figures of the literature of our peoples further said: “Our civilization has enriched world literature with an endless number of authors such as Nizami Ganjavi, Alishir Nevai, Magtumguly Pyragy, Yusuf Khass Hajip, Yunus Emre, Abay Kunanbayulı and many others is further preserving this rich literature heritage while also introducing new poets and authors to the world. When we look at the programme of this major event which brings us together in Baku today, we can see that we will be witnessing a colourful festival which will give us an insight into the life and work of illustrious personalities of the Turkic World while also providing us information on many resperesentatives of our contemporary literature and poetry. I wish this festival to be fruitful in terms of the integration of Turkic peoples as well as in terms of the promotion of authors of Turkic peoples while aso foster the exchange of information among authors of kindred countries and I hereby also express my gratitude to all those who have contributed to the organization thereof."
The opening speeches were followed by seminars, conferences and presentations dealng with various subjects as well as book promotions, poem readings and music performances.
The festival also featured an exhibition of books issued by various publishing houses and organizations in the garden of the Baku State University.
The first, second and third days of the festival were respectively carried out under the motto “Shusha Day”, “Turkic World Day” and “Dede Korkut Day”. Within the framework of the festival various presentations were made to introduce famous poets and authors of the Turkic World such as Nizami Ganjavi, Yunus Emre, Alishir Nevai, Magtumguyly Pyragy, Tügölbay Sydykbekov, Abay Kunanbayev, Mirze Elekber Sabir, Hasan Bey Zerdabi, Ahmed Cavad, Hurshidbanu Natevan, Hüseyin Cavid, Ahmed Baytursynuly and Mirze Feteli Ahundzade.
The Deputy Secretary General of TURKSOY Assoc.Prof. Dr. Bilal Çakıcı who took the floor at the conference moderated by Prof. Dr. Isa Hebibbeyli, the Chairman of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan on “The same destiny on the same path" dedicated to Ahmed Cavad, Hüseyin Cavid and Ahmed Baytursynuly as wll as in the session on “Yunus Emre” made a presentation on these famous authors of the Turkic World.
The event faetured authors and literature experts from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Tatarstan (RF).
