TURKSOY took part in the First International Symposium on Music and Dances of the Turkic World
TURKSOY took part in the First International Symposium on Music and Dances of the Turkic World held on the campus of the Aegean University in the city of Izmir in Turkey between May 9th-12th, 2022.
The First International Symposium on Music and Dances of the Turkic World organized in cooperation of TURKSOY with the State Conservatory of Turkish Music of the Aegean University and the Turkic World Research Institute of the Aegean University featured various workshops, interviews, concerts of art ensembles from the Turkic World and online as well as live paper presentations of scholars from various countries of the world.
The International Symposium began with a speech by Prof. Dr. Fikret Türkmen, the author of the project on the translation of heroic legends of Turkic peoples into Turkish language who is also the founding Director of the Turkic World Research Institute of the Aegean University and was awarded the Honour Medal of TURKSOY dedicated to the great Hungarian turcologist Gyula Nemeth.
The symposium went on with paper presentations by Prof. Dr. Lale Hüseynova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alla Bayramova, the Research Fellow Kenan Memmedli, Assoc. Prof.Dr. Fakhrettin Bakhshialiev and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rauf Behmenli from Azerbaijan, the research fellow Mahire Guliyeva, the teaching staff member Dr. Nabi Azeroğlu, Prof. Dr. Ilgar Imamverdiyev, the teaching staff member Dr. Neslihan Ertural and Dr. Timur B. Davletov from Turkey, Prof. Dr. Saida Yelemanova and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatima Nurlybayeva from Kazakhstan, along with Prof. Dr. Roza Amanova from Kyrgyzstan, Prof. Dr. Janos Sipos from Hungary, Dr. Latofat Tolibdzhanova and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Iroda Dadajanova from Uzbekistan, Prof. Dr. Jamilya Gurbanova from Turkmenistan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Xhemile Abdiu from Albania, and the teaching staff member from Bulgaria Dr. Behrin Shopova.
On the last day of the First International Symposium on Music and Dances of the Turkic World, Prof. Dusen Kasseinov gave a seminar which was followed by a roundtable discussion among participants of the symposium who discussed papers presented therein along with issues such as the preservation of the cultural heritage of Turkic peoples and the further development of interaction in the Turkic World in this respect.
