TURKSOY revives the heritage of the Turkic World
TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev came together with representatives of handcrafts' and ethno-folklore groups.
The meeting which took place in the presence of Prof. Dr. Kanat Mambetaliev, the Representative of Kyrgyzstan to TURKSOY gathered the Director General of the “Kıyal” National Association of Handcrafts Eldar Attokurov, the President of the Organization of Handcrafts of Central Asia Dinara Chochunbayeva and the Art Director of the “Association of Creative Ideas” Aibek Baimbetov along with representatives of various other crafts.

In the meeting, participants discussed opportunities of cooperation between TURKSOY and crafts' organizations. TURKSOY Secretary General Raev said that primary goals of TURKSOY are, amongst others, the preservation of traditional handrafts and crafts of the Turkic World which also include handcrafts of Kyrgyzstan as part of the cultural heritage left behind by our ancestors and the revival and preservation of ancient traditions as well as the transmission thereof to future generations.
Participants who also exchanged their views and ideas concerning the development of traditional handcrafts stressed the importance of the support provided for acitivities carried out to revive traditional handcrafts. As a result of their mutual exchanges, participants further determined their short and long term calendar as regards the cooperation with TURKSOY.
Within this framework, participants decided upon the organization of Culture Days of Kyrgyzstan in Turkey as well as of an Exhibition of Handcarfts to take place at the Fourth World Nomadic Games in Iznik. Participants also stressed that the active participation of Kyrgyzstan in cultural activities of Turkic states will make a positive contribution to the speeding up of the cultural integration process. In the meeting, it was decided that both events shall take place in autumn this year.
Other issues discussed in the meeting were the organization of forums, seminars, exhibitions and masterclasses to take place under the motto "Contemporary Heirs of the Great Heritage" as well as the publication of methodological material.
Concerning their joint activities, participants stressed the importance of the strengthening of traditional events such as tent and felt-making (shirdak) competitions. In terms of future widescope activities, participants also touched upon the idea to organize the TURKEXPO which would harmoniously bring together "ancient" components of cultural heritage with products of modern industry and technology.
