Artists of traditional music of the Turkic World came together in Kyrgyzstan
Within the framework of the Week of Traditional Music, Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, hosted a series of events
The Week of Traditional Music held between April 20th-25th, 2022 within the framework of the 9th International Congress of Music and Dance gathered traditional musicians and scholars working in the field of traditional music. Throughout the week, participants from all over the Turkic World attended panels, seminars and masterclasses which gave them the opportunity to mutually share their experiences.
The Gala Concert held as the closing event of the afore-mentioned Week of Tradtional Music took place on April 25th, the Day of Traditional Music which has been celebrated for the 18th time this year and gathered a large audience at the National Philharmony of Kyrgyzstan.
The concert hosted by the State Secretary of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Suyunbek Kasmanbetov, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Edil Baysalov and the Minister of Culture, Communication Youth Policies and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Azamat Jamankulov took place in the presence of TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev.
The concert enchanted the audience with wonderful performances of artists of the Turkic World from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and republics subject to the Russian Federation: Altai, Tyva and Khakassia dressed in their colourful traditional garments.
At the event, artists of traditional music and scholars of the Turkic World who took part therein were handed over awards of the Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic and of TURKSOY.
Secretary General Sultan Raev: "We will celebrate the Day of Traditional Music in the entire Turkic World"
In the speech he delivered at the Gala Concert, TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev stressed that traditional music events currently carried out in Kyrgyzstan were actually launched during his term in office as Minister of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic and expressed his pride as to the fact that they have now reached an international level. Secretary General Raev further announced that the Day of Traditional Music celebrated for the 18th time in Kyrgyzstan this year will from now on be celebrated in the entire Turkic World. Secretary General Raev further added: "The Day of Traditional Music has been added to the list of events scheduled to take place within the framework of events which will be carried out in Shusha, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2023. Next year, Azerbaijan will also join us in our celebrations. We are further pursuing our activities aiming at the worldwide promotion of our traditional music which is one of the most important components of our cultural herigtage. We are looking forward to joyfully celebrating this special day in various countries of the Turkic World in the near future."
In his speech, Secretary General Raev also expressed his gratitude Minister Jamankulov and to the State Artist of Kyrgyzstan Roza Amanova.
