Presentation of the art album of TURKSOY “Reading Nizami Ganjavi” in Croatia
The presentation of the art album published by TURKSOY and the opening ceremony of the painting exhibition held in commemoration of the 880th anniversary of the birthday of the famous Azerbaijani poet and philosopher Nizami Ganjavi took place in the Napredak Croatian Civilization Center in Zagreb, the capital. Both events took place in the presence of TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov, the former Presidents of Croatia Ivo Josipoviç and Stjepan Mesić, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Croatia H. E. Fahreddin Gurbanov, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan in Croatia H. E. Tolezhan Barlybayev and the Ambassador of Ukraine in Croatia H. E. Vasil Kirilich along with representatives of other diplomatic missions in Croatia as well as the Mufti and President of the Islamic Community of Meshihat in Croatia Aziz Hasanovich, the Director of the Yunus Emre Institute of Zagreb Fuat Korkmaz and many distinguished guests.
In the speech he delivered at the event, Secretary General Kasseinov said that the art album published by TURKSOY on the occasion of the 880th anniversary of the birthday of the famous Azerbaijani author and philosopher Ganjavi was already presented in Baku, Bishkek, Nursultan, Vienna and Belgrade a few days ago and added: “Thanks to his works which gained international recognition, Nizami has not only influenced the literature of Azerbaijan and the Turkic World but also of world literature in general. His unique poems which stand as an exquisite example of the art of poetry and introduce the rich oral tradition of the people of Azerbaijan have played a key role in the development of literature and art. His works have also strongly contributed to the evolution and development of the art of miniatures, fine and ornamental arts, music, cinema, theater, ballet and painting.”
Secretary General Kasseinov further said that the paintings to be seen at the exhibition in the Napredak Croatian Civilization Center were made by famous artists of the Turkic World who were inspired by Nizami Ganjavi’s poems and novels.
The opening speeches delivered by TURKSOY Secretary General Kasseinov, the former Presidents of Croatia Ivo Josipovich and the Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Croatia H. E. Fahreddin Gurbanov were followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony in which all three protocol members cut the ribbon of the art album “Reading Nizami Ganjavi” together.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was followed by a concert featuring songs and melodies inspired by Ganjavis’ works and performed by artists of the Turkic World, namely Ilham Nazarov (contre-tenor) and Sahip Pashazade (tar) from Azerbaijan along with Amina Mashkeyeva (piano) and Yerassyl Khamit (violin) from Kazakhstan.
Guests who attended the event also showed strong interest in the exhibition of works by famous artists of the Turkic World held in the Napredak Croatian Civilization Center in Zagreb and dedicated to Nizami Ganjavi.
