The Kyrgyz phase of the “Five Poets” competition of TURKSOY ended with an final event in Bishkek
The statuette symbolizing the competition held every year since 2015 was handed over to the Representative of the Authors’ Union of Uzbekistan which will be organizing the competition in 2022.
The Kyrgyz phase of the “Five Poets” competition ended with the 5th phase held in the premises of the Kyrgyz Radio and Television KTRK in Bishkek. The statuette symbolizing the competition held every year since 2015 was handed over to the Representative of the Authors’ Union of Uzbekistan which will be organizing the competition in 2022.
The 5th phase of the “Five Poets” competition featuring poems dealing with concepts such as fatherland, devotion to one’s homeland and people as well as patriotism gathered poets of Kyrgyzstan who devoted their life and work to poetry and was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The jury of the competition organized in cooperation of TURKSOY with the Authors’ Union of Kyrgyzstan and the Kyrgyz Radio and Television KTRK was chaired by the People’s Poet of Kyrgyzstan Mr. Kojogeldi Kultegin and composed of the Deputy Chairman of the Authors’ Union of Kyrgyzstan Mr. Kerimbek Kadırakunov, the People’s Poet of Kyrgyzstan Anatay Omurkanov, the philologist Prof. Dr. Umut Kultayeva, the musicologist Jamilya Mamatova, the poet Guljamila Şakirova, the poet Saltanat Orozobekova, the poet Mayrambek Toktorov and the poet and translator Altınbek Ismailov.
Competitors aged 30 and below were Kadırbek Ablabekov, Akjola Dooranbeka uulu, Jakşılık Duyşonbek uulu, Bolot Mambetisayev and Zamira Orozbay uulu who competed in the fields of poetry, singing and the translation of a poem written in another language amongst others.
Members of the jury evaluated the participants’ performance according to criteria such as lyrism, eloquence as well as their talentedness in applied arts and their outward appearance. The competitors were also asked to translate a poem by the famous tatar poet Abdullah Tukay entitled “Soznanie” from Russian into Kyrgyz language anda also had to recite a poem of their own for the first time along with a theater performance. Songs composed on poems by the competitors were performed by Kyrgyz lyrical artists. The first prize of the competition in the category aged 30 and below went to Akjol Dooronbek uulu and Kadırbek Ablabekov.
TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov who went on stage at the end of the competition together with the Chairman of the jury Kojogeldi Kultegin, the Chairman of the Authors’ Union of Kyrgyzstan Nurlan Kalıbekov, the Director of the KTRK Television Kayrat Imanaliyev and the Deputy Chairman of the Authors’ Union of Uzbekistan Gayrat Majid who was the guest of honour of the competition congratulated the poets who participated in the competition.
The Chairman of the Authors’ UNion of Kyrgyzstan Nurlan Kalıbekov handed over the statuette symbolizing the “Five Poets” competition which he received in 2015 when the competiton was first launched to the Deputy Chairman of the Authors’ Union of Uzbekistan, Gayrat Majid who took it on behalf of the Chairman of the latter which will be organizing this competition as of 2022.
Later on, winners of the competition in the categories aged “60 and over” , “50-60”, “40-50”, “30-40 yaş” and “30 and below” were handed over their awards, certificates and Medals of Nizami Ganjavi by TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov.
Secretary General Kasseinov also offered the art album of TURKSOY “Reading Nizami Ganjavi” to Gayrat Majid, Nurlan Kalıbekov and Kayrat Imanaliyev and handed over Medals of Nizami Ganjavi to Kıyalbek Urmambetov, Atahan Kojogulov, Jıpare Arıkova and Kıyal Tajiyeva.
Mr. Kayrat Imanaliyev and Mr. Nurlan Kalıbekov handed over medals and certificates to poets who took part in the competition as well as to all those who contributed to the organization of the competion.
As a symbol of traditional Kyrgyz hospitality, Mr. Kasseinov and Mr. Kultegin were offered a Kyrgyz chapan and kolpak in recognition of their contribution to friendship and cooperation among Turkic peoples in the field of literature.
The first phase of the Five Poets’ Competition which is one of the most important projects carried out by TURKSOY in the field of literature took place in 2015 and was followed by the second phase in 2018. This year’s edition of the Five Poets’ Competition featured major events which took place with the participation of 65 famous contemporary poets of Kyrgyzstan among whom 16 won awards.
