The Kyrgyz poet Jolon Mamytov was commemorated in Istanbul
A commemorative event dedicated to the Kyrgyz poet Jolon Mamytov on the 80th anniversary of his birthday was held in cooperation of TURKSOY with the Metropolitan Municipality of Istanbul, the Eurasian Authors' Union, the Directorate of Istanbul Kültür A.Ş and the Consulate General of Kyrgyzstan in Istanbul.
The opening speeches of the commemorative event were delivered by TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov, the Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Sultan Raev, the Consul General of Kyrgysztan in Istanbul Lira Sydykova and the Chairman of the Eurasian Authors' Union Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yakup Ömeroğlu.
In the opening speech he delivered, TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov said that Jolon Mamytov is a precious author of Kyrgyz literature and that he enriched the literature of the Turkic World with major works he wrote.
The Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Sultan Raev who also delivered a speech stressed that in his poems, Mamytov writes about himself and that while doing this he actually writes about not only man in general but also about the universe.
In her speech, the Consul General of Kyrgysztan in Istanbul Lira Sydykova stressed that the legacy of the famous poet actually relies on universal values such as humanity, love, tolerance and solidarity.
The event which gathered senior government officials, scholars and authors as well as members of the Kyrgyz diaspora who study or work in Turkey went on with speeches on the famous poet Mamytov and his works and featured a reading of Mamytov's poems by famous Kyrgyz poets from along with songs composed thereon performed by artists from Kyrgyzstan.
