Exhibition dedicated to the 700th Anniversary of the passing of Yunus Emre held in TURKSOY Headquarters
An exhibition dedicated to the 700th Anniversary of the passing of Yunus Emre was held in TURKSOY Headquarters.
The exhibition organized in line with the decision of the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to declare the year 2021 as Year of Yunus Emre and the Turkish Language and held in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, the Ministry of National Education, the Yunus Emre Institute, the Atatürk High Institution of Culture Language and History and the Ankara Olgunlaşma Institute took place on June 14th, 2021 and gathered the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey Serdar Çam, the Director General of Elementary Education of the Ministry of National Education Cem Gençoğlu, the Chairman of the Atatürk High Institution of Culture, Language and History Prof. Dr. Muhammet Hekimoğlu, the Chairman of the Turkish Language Institution Prof. Dr. Gürer Gülsevin, the Deputy Director General of Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Emir Salim Yüksel and the Chairman of the Eurasian Authors' Union Yakup Ömeroğlu along with many guests.
In the opening speech he delivered at the exhibition, Secretary General Kasseinov quoted the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who stressed that “the one who is gone shall be found where he got lost” and underlined that we our search for wisdom must start with our respective languages and that we must all together claim ownership of the Turkish language as a world language. Secretary General Kasseinov further added: “Let me stress that the year 2021 which has been declared as Year of Yunus Emre in Turkey and various events held upon inclusion of Yunus Emre in the list of Commemorative Years of UNESCO must both be seen as an opportunity to revive spiritual enlightment and enrich our spiritual heritage and go beyond the mere organization of commemorative events."
Secretary General Kasseinov who said that Yunus Emre, Mevlâna, Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli, Pir Sultan and many other iconic figures of spiritual philosphy of Anatolia were inspired by Akhmet Yassawî’ and that they enlightened the Turkic World with this inspiration led by Yassawi further added: “Yunus has left a considerable heritage behind not only in Anatolia but also in the entire Turkic World. He conquered our hearts with his poems which have been transmitted from one generation to the next for centuries. I do believe that this special exhibition will be an opportnity for our kindred peoples in all our member countries to remember universal messages conveyed by Yunus Emre in his poems and to understand his philosophy."
The Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey Serdar Çam who also delivered a speech at the opening of the exhibition said that the year 2021 is the 750th anniversary of the passing of Hacı Bektaş Veli and the 650th anniversary of the birthday of Ahi Evran and added that "Hence, we are part of a great spiritual heritage which is strongly bound together. We are part of the great civilization and heritage once left behind by these illustious figures."
Deputy Minister Çamwho also said that direct flights to major cities of Central Asia have resumed added that "We get closer to these regions not only physically but also spiritually."
Deputy Minister Çam who added that more than 1800 events will be carried out in 81 cities and 81 countries of the world within the framework of the Year of Yunus Emre and the Turkish language further said that "These events will help restore the wrong image created not only in the Turkic World but also worldwide about Islam through islamophobic propaganda which refuse to understand Islam and associate it with terrorism and I think that through such events, we will be able to explain messages of our prophet as well as messages of the Quran correctly."
The Yunus Emre Oratorio to be performed in Belgium
Deputy Minister Çam who also said that events to be carried out in order to introduce Turkic culture, art, aesthetics and spiritual philosophy to the world,are important added that cinema festivals featuring short films will also be organized throughout the year.
Deputy Minister Çam who also added that the Yunus Emre Oratorio will be performed in Belgium within the framework of the Sufi Week further said: "I think that this will be a major opportunity for us to explain the messages which our scholars and diplomats are already trying to get accross."
Mr. Gençoğlu who also delivered a speech said that nations exist thanks to the existence of some people who marked their history.
Mr. Gençoğlu added that the Turkish nation enriched the history of humanity with various illustrious personalities such as Yunus Emre and said: "These iconic figures of our history have been and still are enchanting humanity with their life and work which widened our horizon" and further said : "Yunus Emre can be compared to a river in terms of feelings, language and belief. He played a pioneer role in the evolution of Turkish language and history. Indeed, Yunus Emre's wisdom and philosophy have nurtured us for centuries. If we succeed in being worthy of his legacy, they will nurture entire humanity."
