Conference on “Turkistan – The Spiritual Capital of the Turkic World: Integration and Cooperation Opportunities”
The International Kazak-Turkish Khoja Akhmet Yassawi University hosted a conference entitled “Turkistan – The Spiritual Capital of the Turkic World: Integration and Cooperation Opportunities”. The conference moderated by the Rector of the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi University, Dr. Zhanar Temirbekova featured contributions by the Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking Countries (Turkic Council) Mr. Bagdad Amreyev, the Deputy Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries (TURKPA) Mr. Ali Yıldız and the President of the International Turkic Academy Darkhan Kydyrali.
In the speech he delivered at the conference, the Deputy Secretary General of TURKSOY, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilal Çakıcı stressed that the unity and solidarity among Turkic peoples who share a common history and destiny is the greatest source of happiness for him and added that Turkistan, the city which once was the capital of the Khanate of Kazan and is located on the route of the Great Silkroad is a sacred city which was declared Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2017 by TURKSOY. Deputy Secretary General Çakıcı further said that it is no coincidence that this city which is the land of ancestors of Turkic peoples was declared “Spiritual Capital of the Turkic World” at the Unofficial Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking Counrties on March 31st, 2021.
Deputy Secretary General Çakıcı who also mentioned that “The holy land of Turkistan, home town of Khoja Akhmet Yassawi which hosted 21 Kazak Khans, 19 ancestors of the Kazak people, 52 heroes and 8 sultans will be protected forever by the spiritual presence of these ancestors. The world famous Hazreti Sultan Shrine is an enigmatic wonder of architecture which stands apart with its architectural structure and aesthetic craftsmanship. This is why its beauty has been attracting visitors for centuries” added that: “Hence, I would like to take this opportunity to convey a very important message to everyone. I think that a Memorial of Nursultan Nazarbayev should be built in this ancient city which bears the title of cultural and spiritual capital of the Turkic World. There is more than one reason for this: we are witnessing every day that as the threshold between two worlds and cradle of Turkic peoples, the city of Turkistan which takes its strength from its history dating back to centuries is announcing a bright future. Of course, Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev who was the first President of the independent Republic of Kazakhstan marks the beginning of these historical achievements. Besides, Nazarbayev was also the one who with his strong leadership, not only suggested to revive Turkistan and took the necessary steps therefore but also played a pioneer role in the establishment of cooperation organizations such as TURKSOY, the Turkic Council and the Turkic Academy, and drew the borders of independent Kazakhstan while ensuring sustainable peace and prosperity therein. Hence, such a suggestion is the result of the deep gratitude and respect towards this wiseman of the Turkic World. I am confident that this call of mine will be supported by anyone who is conscious and mindful!
May the inspirational power, fruitfulness and light of Turkistan, the spiritual Capital of the Turkic World, bless the Turkic World and may the friendship of kindred countries of the wide steppes ranging from Altai Mountains to the Meditearranean Sea last forever!”
The conference featured contributions of the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia H. E. Polad Bülbüloğlu, the Secretary of the «Nur Otan» Party of Kazakhstan Arman Kırıkbayev, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazak-Turkish University Prof. Dr. Muhittin Şimşek, the former President of the Republic of Tatarstan (RF) Mintimer Shaymiyev, the former President of the Republic of Bashkortostan (RF) Murtaza Rahimov, the MP of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Darhan Mynbai, Prof. Dr. Yulay Şamiloğlu from the Wisconsin-Madison, Nazarbayev University, Prof. Dr. Kozokboy Yuldoshev from the State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Nevai and Prof. Dr. Tashpolot Sadykov from the Kırgızistan State University of Bishkek named after K. Karasaev.
