Presentation of a book by the Kumyk turcologist Murad Adji “Saint Yorgi and the Huns” translated into Turkish

The book by the famous Kumyk turcologist Murad Adji translated into Turkish by TURKSOY, “Saint Yorgi and the Huns” was presented in a meeting held in Ankara on April 8th, 2021.

The presentation event held in the Headquarters of the International Organization of Turkic Culture  was hosted by the Secretary General of TURKSOY  Dusen Kasseinov and gathered Assoc. Prof. Dr.  Yakup Ömeroğlu, Prof. Dr. Aleksandr Kolesnikov,  the turcologist  from the Saint-Petersburg University,  Marina Kuryachaya,  the Chief Edtitor of the website adjı.ru, Prof. Dr. Ilyas Kemaoğlu from the Marmara University and Prof. Dr. Zeynep Bağlan Özer from the Hacı Bayram Veli University of Ankara along with Mr. Tevfik Zengin, a Kumyk researcher and author who took the flooras keynote speakers.

In the opening speech he delivered at the meeting, Secetary General Dusen Kasseinov said that TURKSOY is carrying out activities to exore foster and preserve the comon culture, language history, art, traditions and customs of Turkic peoples and countries with a view to transmitting them to future generations so as to preserve their cultural heritage.

Mr. Kasseinov added: “One of these illustrious personalities is the trcologist Murad Adji, the great Kumyk  researcher, scholar and turcologist of the Turkic World who became famous while he was alive. As we commemorate tis great figure of the Turkic World, let me stress that he has left a considerable heritage behind with his works in the field of turcology. I believe that each and everyone of us should feel responsible as to the transmission of his legacy to future generations. It is a great honour for us to commemorate Murad Adji whom I personally respect very much. Great figures of history live on forever with the heritage they leave behind. Hence, it is a memorable fact that the translation of Murad Adji's book “Saint Yorgi and the Huns”  into Turkish has been published by TURKSOY and will give Turkish readers an insight into this great author and turcologist's work."

In the papers they presented at the event, keynote speakers  gave some information on Murad Adji’s life, work and unique contribution to turcology.

The presentations were followed by the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the book “Saint Yorgi and the Huns” gathering TURKSOY Secretary General  Dusen Kasseinov, the Chairman of the Eurasian Authors' Union Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yakup Ömeroğlu and the  Marina Kuryachaya,  the Chief Edtitor of the website adjı.ru Marina Kuryachaya.
