TURKSOY commemorated the famous Turkmen composer Chary Nurymov in the Turkic World
An event to commemorate the famous Turkmen composer Chary Nurymov was held in cooperation of TURKSOY with the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the State Conservatory of Turkmenistan.
The online commemoration event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Status of Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan took place with the participation of famous composers and artists of the Turkic World and was moderated by the Chair of the Department of Composition of the State Conservatory of Turkmenistan Meret Annamuradov.
In the opening speech he delivered at the event, TURKSOY Secretary General, Prof. Dusen Kasseinov expressed his hapiness to have come together with artists of Turkmenistan at this event organized within the framework of the 25th anniversary of the Status of Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan. Secretary General Kasseinov who further said that he personally witnesses the strong interest shown by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov not only in Turkmen culture but also in the culture and art of the Turkic World, further added that this event held today is yet another proof of the fact that President Berdimuhammedov attaches particular importance in the strengthening of ties of brotherhood among Turkic peoples.
In the speech he delivered, Prof. Kasseinov also added that the music heritage of TURKSOY member countries in particular and of Turkic peoples in general matters very much to TURKSOY and that it therefore carries out activities such as "Commemorative Years", "Conferences on Pioneers of the Turkic World" and "Concerts Featuring Classical Masterpieces of the Turkic World" to foster interaction among classical and traditional music composers of the Turkic World and introduce them to the world.
Mr. Kasseşnov who also expressed his pleasure to have personally met Chary Nurymov who was a famous Turkmen composer also astrongly appreciated by music authorities of the world further said: “We have come together in many international artistic events in Germanz, Moscow and Almaty. He was one of the most prominent figures of the cultural music heritage of the Turkmen people. He was a modern and innovative person and I personally witnessed how these character traits of him were approved and appreciated by his contemporary music critics."
In the opening speech he delivered at the event, the Rector of the State Conservatory of Turkmenistan Resul Amangeldiyev said that the Turkmen composer Chary Nurymov was one of the most brilliant names in the history of music of Turkmenistan. Mr. Amangeldiyev further said that Nurymov created a unique, vibrant style of his own by mingling Turkmen traditional music with compositions of 20th century contemporary music and distinguished himself through the artistic depth of his work as well as the supremacy of moral ideals he expressed in it along with the beauty of Turkmen lands.
The Chairperson of the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan Firengiz Alizade who also delivered a speech at the event stressed that Nurymov was and is well-known to famous composers of Turkic republics. Mrs. Alizade who further said that Nurymov was a cornerstone of Turkmen music and composed many world famous works which also won awards in various competitions such as the “Quartet for Strings Op. 2” which he dedicated to the famous Indian politician Indira Gandhi.
The Chairperson of the Union of Composers of Kazakhstan Balnur Qydyrbek said that she got acquainted with Nurymov in her early years of activity in the field of music and was literally enchanted by his tale-like melodies he wrote for Turkmen films. Mrs. Qydyrbek further stressed that Chary Nurymov who was one of the most important composers of the Turkic World was also one of the few composers who succeeded in reflecting the spirit of the Turkic World in his works. Mrs. Qydyrbek who also stressed that composers of Turkic peoples were not really cared about let alone rewarded during the Soviet Era, and that this caused some disappointment for them, said that they therefore regarded the award won by Chary Nurymov in 1986 as a victory of all composers of the Turkic World.
The Chairperson of the Union of Composers of Kazakhstan Balnur Qydyrbek also informed the audience about the fact that following his passing away in 1993, this Turkmen composer closely followed-up by his Central Asian peers and musicians had been paid tribute to with a concert dedicated to him and organized in 1994 by Prof. Dusen Kasseinov who was then the Rector of the State Conservatory of Almaty.
The Chair of the Union of Composers of Kyrgyzstan Turdıbek Chokiyev who also delivered a speech at the event said that Chary Nurymov was also strongly appreciated by amateurs of art in Kyrgyzstan. Mr. Chokiyev who cited Nurymov’s ballet entitled “Immortality” which he composed in 1973 upon request of the Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic as an example of his cooperation with the latter also mentioned that Kyrgyz orchestras often perform works by Chary Nurymov.
Other keynote speakers who took the floor at the event were, the Chair of the Union of Composers of Uzbekistan and State Artist of Uzbekistan Prof. Rustam Abdullayev and the Deputy Chair of the latter Prof. Habibulla Rahimov, the Turkish composer Turgay Erdener from the Maltepe University and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özge Gülbey Usta from the Aegean University, the lecturers Dr. Bayramdurdy Hudaynazarov, Dr. Ceren Kurbanklycheva and Dr. Elmira Galimova from the Union of the Union of Composers of Russia and Tatarstan.
Artists and esnembles who took the scene in the concert featuring works by Chary Nurymov were the pianist from Azerbaijan Fegan Hasanlı, the pianist from Kazakhstan Arman Jayım, the pianist and State Artist of Kyrgyzstan Yuliya Babich, the pianist from Uzbekistan Elnura Mirzakamalova, the State Choir of Turkmenistan, the Violin Ensemble of Turkmenistan, and the State Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan who performed Nurymov,s “Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra”, “Prelude”, “Adagio for Oboe and Orchestra, 1st movement”, “Teke Nakyshmlary, No: 5”, “Oyanmaz”, “Hoşlaşyk Aydymy”, “Elegie on Magtumguyly Pyragy”, “Sonatina”, “Armanım galdı”, “Nazlım Uz Mana”, “Death of the Dry Wind”, the song of Alty in the film “Melegush” and the “ Concerto for Piano and Orchestra”.
