The famous Azerbaijani film director Hasan Seyidbeyli was commemorated in Ankara on the 100th anniversary of his birthday
Within the framework of closing events of the Year of Imadeddin Nesimi dedicated to the commemoration of the 650th anniversary of his birthday by TURKSOY a event to commemorate the famous Azerbaijani scriptwriter and film director Hasan Seyidbeyli followed by a film on Nesimi was held in the National Library of the Republic of Turkey in Ankara.
The event which took place in the Exhibition and Conference Hall of the National Library gathered TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Ankara H. E. Hazar Ibrahim, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey Ahmet Misbah Demircan, the Deputy Minister of Environment and Urban Planning and Chairman of the Union of Architects and Engineers of the Turkic World Mücahit Demirtaş, the President of the State Cinema Foundation of Azerbaijan Rasim Salmanov and his Deputy President Reşad Kasımov, the Coordinator of the TRT Avaz Channel Sedat Sağırkaya and the Chairman of the Eurasian Authors’ Union Dr. Yakup Ömeroğlu along with artists and intellectuals as well as amateurs of arts and many guests.
In the opening speech he delivered at the event, TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov said that various events are organized by TURKSOY in its member countries and worldwide within the framework of the Year of Nesimi and added: “The great author amd poet Imadeddin Nesimi is a precious contribution of Azerbaijan to common Turkic culture. Indeed, Nesimi who takes his literary strength from the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of the Eastern world has left an extremely precious heritage behind him. The literary heritage of of this great poet and philosopher is a cornerstone of the history of Turkic culture and literature which dates back to many centuries.”
Secretary General Kasseinov who said that TURKSOY dedicated the year 2019 to the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birthday of Imadeddin Nesimi added that on the occasion of the closing of this commemorative year, TURKSOY is introducing the film on Nesimi by the famous cinema director of Azerbaijan Hasan Seyidbeyli and stressed that: “The famous playwright and screenwriter, film director and State Artist of Azerbaijan Hasan Seyidbeyli became famous in the field of cinema not only in the Soviet Union but also worldwide thanks to the plays he wrote and films he directed. His films also won various prizes in major festivals of the world.”
In the speeches they delivered at the event, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Ankara H. E. Hazar Ibrahim, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey Ahmet Misbah Demircan and the Deputy President of the State Cinema Foundation of Azerbaijan Reşad Kasımov touched upon the life and work of Nesimi and Hasan Seyidbeyli as well as the precious legacy they left behind in terms of the cultural and artistic heritage of our peoples.
The opening speeches were followed by a ceremony in which TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov handed over a plaquette to the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Ankara H. E. Hazar Ibrahim, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey Ahmet Misbah Demircan and the President of the State Cinema Foundation of Azerbaijan Rasim Salmanov in recognition of their contribution and support regarding activities carried out within the framework of the Year of Imadeddin Nesimi 2019.
In the ceremony, Secretary General Kasseinov also handed over the Medal of Nesimi prepared by TURKSOY to officials who attended the ceremony on behalf of Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Ayan, researcher on Nesimi and to the State Artist of Azerbaijan Rasim Balayev.
Following the handing over of plaquettes and medals, protocol members inaugurated the photography exhibition on the life and work of Hasan Seyidbeyli in the Exhibition Hall of the National Library of the Republic of Turkey.
The event ended with Hasan Seyidbeyli’s film “Nesimi” which he made in 1973.
