Imadeddin Nesimi, the famous poet of Azerbaijan was commemorated in Moldova
Within the framework of the commemorative year declared by the International organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY on the occasion of the 650th anniversary of the birthday of the Azerbaijani poet Imadeddin Nesimi, various events were held in Moldova as well.
The first commemorative event held in the Republic of Moldova took place in the National Library of Moldova.
The event organized in cooperation of TURKSOY with the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Moldovaand the National Library of Moldova was hosted by the Director of the latter Mrs. Elena Pintilei and gathered the Deputy Secretary General of TURKSOY Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilal Çakıcı along with the Undersecretary of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Moldova Mrs. Leyla Orucova, Prof. Dr. Teymur Kerimli from the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Ilie T. Zegrea who translated Nesimi’s poems into Romanian language and the author and member of the Authors’ Union of Azerbaijan Selim Babullaoğlu who each delieverd a speech.
Mr. Çakıcı who said that illustrious personalities of the Turkic World who left a precious legacy behind them are being commemorated by TURKSOY every year together with Turkic peoples further added: “Imadeddin Nesimi is a precious author of Azerbaijan who enriched the common culture of Turkic peoples with his work. As a poet who drew his literary strength from the rich spiritual heritage of Eastern culture he wrote exquisite poems rooted in the ancient history and philosophy of Turkic peoples which date back to centuries. Poems of this great author which have been read in various languages are a cornerstone of Turkic culture.”
The event also featured the presentation of a book published by TURKSOY, “Nesimi in World Languages” with Nesimi’s poems translated into 15 languages. TURKSOY’s dewputy Secretary General Bilal Çakıcı who said a few words about the book stressed that: “This book has been published in order to introduce the unique legacy of this great poet of the Turkic World to readers worldwide. I believe this book featuring translations of Nesimi’s poems into Romanian language will be strongly appreciated by Moldovan amateurs of poetry as it will give them the opportunity to read his poems in their mother tongue.”
At the event, a copy of the book was offered to the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Moldova H. E. Oleg Vasnețov, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Moldova Zdenek Kreychi and to the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Moldova Evgeniy Stefanov Stoychev as well as to representatives of embassies of Turkey, Ukraine, Georgia and other countries in Moldova and to representatives of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and Turkish Airlines.
Following the presentation of the book, ambassadors Vasnețov, Kreychi and Stefanov Stoychev delivered a speech in which they expressed their gratitude to the organizers of the event.
The event also featured a painting exhibition with paintings by the Moldovan artist Mariya Sklyarenko entitled “The World Was Created With Love” and dedicated to the famous poet Imadeddin Nesimi.
Nesimi was commemorated in Gagauzia
Within the framework of the Year of Imadeddin Nesimi 2019, the great poet of Azerbaijan was commemorated in the State University of Gagauzia (Moldova) as well.
The commemorative meeting features speeches by the Rector of the University Sergey Zahariya, the Deputy Secretary General of TURKSOY Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilal Çakıcı, the Director of the National Library of Moldova Elena Pintilei, the Representative of the Baku International Center for Multiculturalism in Moldova Agireu Grigoriu, the Undersecretary of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Moldova Leyla Orucova and the Director of Cultural Affairs of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia (Moldova) Marina Semionova.
In the meeting, the Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to TURKSOY Mr. Elçin Gafarlı presented the book published by TURKSOY “Imadeddin Nesimi in World Languages” featuring poems by Nesimi translated into 15 languages.
At the end of the meeting, the Deputy Secretary General of TURKSOY offered the plate of nesimi as well as the book entitled “Imadeddin Nesimi in World Languages” and various publications of TURKSOY to the Rector of the university Sergey Zahariya.
Following the commemorative event participants visited the Department of TURKSOY which carries out activities within the State University of Komrat..
