Commemoration of the famous Bashkort poet and author Mustay Karim in Azerbaijan
On September 27th, 2019, the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan inaugurated the 6th International Bookfair of Baku. The fair featuring a stand of TURKSOY among many others was inaugurated with a ceremony gathering the Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Ahmetov along with diplomats, MPs, authors and students.
The Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Ebulfes Garayev, who inaugurated the bookfair dedicated to the 650th Anniversary of the birthday of the great Azerbaijani poet Imadeddin Nesimi said that this year's International Bookfair of Baku raised great interest and gathers 81 publishing houses from Azerbaijan along with 40 publishing houses from 22 countries.
The fairstand of TURKSOY which participated in the fair for the third time this year raised great interest among Azerbaijani amateurs of literature. TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov who visited the fairstands together with Minister Garayev after the official opening ceremony stressed the growing interest of the people of Azerbaijan and especially the young generation in literature. The bookfair which lasted three days featured book presentations, conferences, signature days and interviews with readers.
- Commemorative meeting dedicated to Mustay Karim -
On September 28th, 2019, TURKSOY held a commemorative meeting hosted by the National Library of Azerbaijan and dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birthday of the famous Bashkort author and poet Mustay Karim and presented its book featuring "Selected Poems by Mustay Karim in World Languages". The Director of the National Library of Azerbaijan Kerim Tahirov who delivered the opening speech of the meeting extended his gratitude to TURKSOY and said that within the framework of its cooperation with TURKSOY, the National Library of Azerbaijan has organized many such meetings to commemorate illustrious personalities of the Turkic World and present books published about them. In the speech he delivered following the short film on the life and work of Mustay Kerim, TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov said that this is the first promotional event regarding the book published by TURKSOY on selected poems of the great Bashkort poet and author Mustay Karim in world languages. The Chairman of the Authors' Union of Bashkortostan Zaki Alibayev and the Deputy Director of the National Library of Bashkortostan Lusiya Ilyasova who also took the floor at the opening ceremony extended their gratitude to TURKSOY for the organization of the commemorative meeting dedicated to Mustay Karim as well as for the publication of a selection of his poems in world languages.
The opening ceremony was followed by speeches of the Director of the Ataturk Center of Azerbaijan and MP Nizami Ceferov, the poet and translator Kenan Çarboğa who translated Mustay Karim's poems into Turkish, the author, Prof. Dr. Gazenfer Paşayev and Prof. Dr. Nizami Memmedov-Tağısoy from the Slavian University of Baku as well as of other participants who gave information on the life and work of the poet. At the end of the event, TURKSOY Secretary General Kasseinov extended a plaquette to the keynote speakers as a remembrance of the day.
The meeting gathered directors and delegations of national libraries of Turkey, Moldova, Ukraine, Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Latvia and other countries. Furthermore, an exhibition entitled "Mustay Karim 100" and featuring books by Mustay Karim was opened at the National Library of Azerbaijan and publications of TURKSOY were distributed to participants.

The commemorative meeting dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birthday of the famous Bashkort poet and author Mustay Karim and the presentation of the book published by TURKSOY featuring "Selected Poems by Mustay Karim in World Languages" took place on September 30th, 2019 at the State University of Pedagogical Studies of Azerbaijan. n the opening speech he delivered at the event, the Rector of the State University of Pedagogical Studies of Azerbaijan Prof. Dr. Cafer Caferov extended his gratitude to TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov for the publication of the book on "Selected Poems by Mustay Karim in World Languages" as well as for the organization of this event. In the speech he delivered after the short film, Secretary Kasseinov said: “This event held within the framework of the cooperation protocol signed by TURKSOY with the State University of Pedagogical Studies of Azerbaijan will pave the way for the further development of the mutual cooperation between both parties and contribute to introducing the legacy of illustrious personalities of the Turkic World to artists and intellectuals.
All keynote speakers extended their gratitude to TURKSOY for the publication of the book on "Selected Poems by Mustay Karim in World Languages" and stressed that it will help introduce Mustay Karim to young readers of Azerbaijan.
