Traditional Music Festival of the Turkic World in Kazakhstan
The Music Festival of the Turkic World which took place in the city of Atyrau in Kazakhstan between June 23rd-25th, 2019 was organized with the contribution of the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY.
The festival hosted by the Governorate of Atyrau and the Union of Composers of Kazakhstan took place in the presence of TURKSOY Secretary General Prof. Dusen Kasseinov, the Governor of Atyrau Nurlan Nogayev, the Chairman of the Union of Composers of the Turkic World and the Union of Composers of Kazakhstan Balnur Kadyrbek, the Chairman of the Union of Composers of the Russian FederationRashid Kalimullin, the Chairperson of the Union of Composers of Bashkortostan (RF) Leyla Ismagilova, the Chairman of the Union of Composers of Kyrgyzstan and Rector of the State Conservatory of Kyrgyzstan Muratbek Begaliyev and the Director of the State Museum of Azerbaijan named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli Serdar Ferecovalong with Assoc. Prof. Hurshidahon Hasanova from the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan and the Chairman of the Union of Composers of Turkmenistan Rovshen Nepesov.
TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov who stressed that such a festival is being held for the first time further added: “Today, talented composers who have been contributing to various prestigious music festivals around the world have come together in Atyrau. We have major plans regarding the furture. We are expected to contribute to a festival in South Korea and the Festival opf Contemporary Music of Turkic Peoples will be held very soon in Bashkortostan(RF). Similarly, a Music Festival of Eurasia will take place in Tatarstan(RF). Today, we are contributing to a major event in Atyrau which will play a key role in the music culture of our peoples."
The Governor of Atyrau Nurlan Nogayev who greeted the audience in his opening speech underlined that representatives of the music of the Turkic World who are contributing to the festival are all famous artists of their countries of origin who are also well-known far beyond. The Governor further stressed his belief in the fact that such events will give a new impetus to the development of ties among countries through culture music and art.
The festival started with a performence of B. Kydyrbek's "Between Altai and Atyrau" by the Naryn Kazak Orchestra of Traditional Instruments under S. Jumasheva and D. Glymov. In the festival featuring performances of works by great composers of the Turkic World, the audience had the opportunity to get acquainted with characteristic melodies and rhythms of Turkic peoples performed by traditional Kazak instruments in the historical heart of the Turkic World.
The audience was enchanted by the concert which featured works by great composers of the Turkic World such as S. Ferecov, S. Apasova, L. Ismagilova, H. Setekov, R. Abdullayev, E. Umirov, R. Nepesov, V. Strigochki-Paka, B. Amanjol, H.Hasanova, B. Kydyrbek, M. Begaliyeva, M. Ilyasov, T. Shalginova, R. Kalimullin and I. Azmanlı.
The concert literally took on its audience onto an unforgettable journey to the rich music culture of Turkic peoples with works of music from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tatarstan (RF) , Bashkortostan (RF), Khakassia (RF) and Uygur music.
At the festival which raised great interest and enthusiasm among its audience, the Naryn Kazak Orchestra of Traditional Instruments accompanied soloists of the Abai State Academy of Opera and Ballet of Kazakhstan Gulzat Daurbayeva and Darhan Joldybaiev.
