Artists invited by TURKSOY at the Çubuk Festival
Artists invited by the
International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY gave a wonderful
performance at the Festival of Çubuk.
The 13th International Çubuk Festival of Pickles
and Culture hosted by the Mayor of Çubuk Mr. Tuncay Acehan gathered the Deputy
Secretary General of TURKSOY Prof. Dr. Fırat Purtaş, MPs of the AK Party from
Ankara Emrullah Isler, Orhan Yegin and Arife Polat Düzgün, the Rector of the Yıldırım
Beyazıt University Prof. Dr. Metin Doğan and the Mayor of theMunicipality of Maglaj
in Bosnia Herzegovina Miksat Mahmutaqic along with other officials.
Colourful Parade at the
Festival
The
festival which attracted a large number of people started with a parade gathering the Mayor
of Çubuk Tuncay Acehan and protocol members as well as artists. The parade
featuring colourful ensembles with their
flags took place with the contribution of artists from Macedonia and Kazakhstan
who were invited by TURKSOY to participate in the event. Citizens of Çubuk
strongly appreciated artists of the Turkic World wearing flags of TURKSOY
member countries and Macedonia.

In the speech he delivered at the opening of the festival, TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Fırat Purtaş stressed the fact that Çubuk is hosting a major event and said: "Today, Çubuk is welcoming guests from various countries of the Turkic World from Central Asia to the Balkans. Hospitality is an essential component of Turkic culture and customs. Indeed, guests bring us joy and abundance. We believe that this festival plays a key role in the development and progress of Çubuk. TURKSOY which is known as the UNESCO of the Turkic World and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year has been contributing to this festival since its beginning. Indeed, with artists and scholars from Turkic republics it brings to this festival, TURKSOY plays its part in the enrichment of peoples through cultural interaction. We are working in close cooperation with the Municipality of Çubuk and the Yıldırım Beyazıt University. As a matter of fact, we have already held Nevruz celebrations here as well as exhibitions of works by painters of the Turkic World and academic meetings."

Prof. Dr. Purtaş who added that the festival also
contributes to peace in the region further said: “We are a nation which
embraces Ataturk’s ideal "Peace in
the country, peace in the world". This is a philosophy which is embedded in our genetic
codes. Just as Yunus Emre and Mevlana, we are working to bring people and cultures closer
together and build ties of brotherhood among them. This festival is a a major initiative of cultural diplomacy
serving peace in the country and the world. Let me therefore extend my
deepest gratitude to the Mayor of Çubuk for having organized this festival and
to the citizens of Çubuk for their valuable contribution to it.”
Pickles of Çubuk enter
the Guinness Book of Records
The opening speeches were followed by the measurement of a glass of pickles produced with the support of the Municipality of Çubuk and the District Cooperative of Pickles Fresh Vegetables and Fruit. The 1,5 meter-high, giant glass of pickles made on August 28th was measured by the Representative of Guinness World Records in Turkey Mrs. Şeyda Subaşı Gemici. The record was announced as Mrs. Gemici certified the item as the “biggest glass of pickles in the world” and Mrs. Ayşe Horat approved the taste of the pickles. The Mayor of the Municipality of Çubuk Tuncay Acehan offered pickles to protocol members. The pickles were then taken out of the glass and distributed to the people.

from the Turkic World
After the opening ceremony, the festival went on
with colourful performances on the stage
built in the Çubukabad Park. Local and
foreign artists who took the scene at the festival enchanted the audience with
their colourful song and dance performances. The audience particularly
appreciated performances of the Euphoria Dance Ensemble from Kazakhstan and the
“Folk Dance Ensemble of the Akif Yahya Culture and Fine Arts Association” from
Macedonia which came to Ankara upon
invitation of TURKSOY. The lyrical artist from Kazakhstan Lara Rısbay and the
soloist of the Manastir State School of Music Eleonora Cocoska literally
enchanted the audience with their songs. Citizens of Çubuk were extremely happy
to pose with artists from the Turkic World for photos as a remembrance of the
day.
