Great Festival Gathering the Turkic World
The 15th International Festival of Anatolian Art and Culture organized every year by the municipality of Etimesgut has begun in an extremely joyful atmosphere. The festival which will last 10 days will feature folk dance and music performances, exhibitions of crafts of the Turic World as well as traditional garments.
The Opening Event of the festival featured a cortege parade of contributing artists on August 31st, 2018. The parade took place with the contribuıtion of representatives Turkic republics and communities with their flags, cavalier groups and janissary bands as well as representatives of embassies, chairpersons of associations foundations and groups along with art ensembles and many citizens.
The opening ceremony of the concert which took place on the first day on the festival was held on the Central Square of Etimesgut by the Mayor of the Municipality of Etimesgut Enver Demirel and officials of the municipality in the presence of the President of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Mr. Devlet Bahçeli.
The Mayor Mr. Demirel who delivered the opening speech of the event said : “With this festival, we are introducing the thousand-year-old culture and art of Turkic peoples and Anatolia to the entire world with various colourful events. Our aim is to introduce our rich cultural heritage to young generations”.
The opening speech was followed by the introduction, opening and groundbreaking ceremony of 41 huge works of art produced in the region upon order of the Municipality of Etimesgut.
The first day of the festival featured promotional events and artistic performances of the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY, the Association of Citizens of Etimesgut in Ankara and the Association of Culture Tourism and Social Solidarity of Citizens of Ankara from Samsun.
The highligh of the festival was the performance of the Suyinbay Sazy Ensemble from Kazakhstan which took the scene with five artists on behalf of TURKSOY. After the finale of the festival which raised great enthusiasm among the audience in Etimesgut, artists handed over a present to the Mayor of Etimesgut Mr. Enver Demirel. The opening speech delivered by the Representative of Kazakhstan to TURKSOY Mr. Askar Turganbayev received standing ovations.
The festival also featured an exhibition of paintings resulting from TURKSOY's Gatherings of Painters of the Turkic World entitled "Moons' Glitter".
Within the framework of the festival, visitors will have the opportunity to get acquainted with not only the culture and art of participating countries and regions but also with their typical cuisine. The festival will last for 10 days and feature performances of different starring artists every night.
