Painting Exhibition of TURKSOY in the TRNC

The Painting Exhibition of TURKSOY organized in cooperation of the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY with the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Near East University  (NEU) was inaugurated in the Exhibition Hall of the Hospital of the NEU in the presence of the President of the TRNC Mr. Mustafa Akıncı.

The opening ceremony  of the  exhibition featuring paintings resulting from the Painters Gathering of TURKSOY held with the contribution of  16 painters from  10  countries of the Turkic World gathered the President of the TRNC Mustafa Akıncı, TURKSOY Secretary General  Prof. Dr. Dusen Kasseinov, the Representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Nicosia, the Founding Rector of the NEU Dr. Suat I. Günsel,  the Chairman of the Board of Trustees  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irfan S. Günsel, the rector of the NEU Prof. Dr. Ümit Hassan, Deputy Rectors, teaching staff members, painters and many amateurs of art.

In the speech he delivered at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, TURKSOY Secretary General  Prof. Dusen Kasseinov said that this event is yet another contribution to the longstanding  cooperation  between the Near east University and TURKSOY and added:  “The Near East University is an institution which attaches particular importance to culture and art, and this is why we wanted to make our contribution to this project aiming at the establishment of the Museum of Fine Arts of the Turkic World. Hence we have brought 20 paintings by artists of the Turkic World who participated in the Painters' Gathering of TURKSOY for the last 20 years.” 

Prof. Kasseinov further said, “Thanks to the valuable efforts of the teaching staff of the Faculty of Fine Artsa and Design of this university  it has been possible to organize this exhibition within 10 days. It features paintings resulting from our painters' gathering which took place in the TRNC  with the contribution of 16 painters from 10 countries ressamlar who depicted the nature and cultural heritage of the TRNC.”

The President of the TRNC Mustafa Akıncı who also delivered a speech at the opening ceremony stressed that art is a field in which the TRNC successfully overcomes  challenges which it faces in many other areas otherwise and added: ”It is a great pleasure for me to share this moment with you as we are carrying out yet another artistic event. As we will get acquainted with works by artists from 10 countries all together, I would like to stress that the power of culture and art transcends borders and unites us. Of course, one would wish that the TRNC has no border at all. Neither in sport nor in politics or art. But as we all know, reality looks different. The only way to overcome this impediment is to support art because art and culture are a universal language. There are wonderful paintings displayed here and they are waiting for us to discover them”.

The Rector of the Near East University Prof. Dr. Umit Hassan who delivered the opening speech of the event said: “Of course, this joint initiative undertaken by TURKSOY Secretary General Kasseinov and our Founding Rector  Dr. Suat I. Günsel has been  a strong impetus for our mutual cooperation and I believe that it will bring about many more successful activities in the future. With this  museum, the international dimension of our university will be further developed. I do not use the term international as a connotation of higher value. I do really believe that we will achieve great results together. Indeed, this is not something we believe in by ourselves. This is what TURKSOY and its managerial staff also keep stressing as it  constantly brings up new perspectives  which are truly international. With this museum, we will reach new dimensions which will contribute to the growth and strengthening of the cooperation between the NEU and  TURKSOY. Let me finally stress that the particularly beautiful and aesthetic paintings by artists from the TRNC have played a key role in reaching the point where we are today.”

The opening speeches were followed by a ceremony in which the Founding Rector of the NEU Dr. Suat Günsel extended a plaquette to the President of the TRNC Mustafa Akıncı and to TURKSOY Secretary General  Prof. Dr. Dusen Kasseinov as a remembrance of this important day. Later on, TURKSOY Secretary General  Prof. Dr. Dusen Kasseinov extended the book of TURKSOY on activities it has been carrying out in the TRNC to the President of the TRNC Mustafa Akıncı.

Following this ceremony, the President of the TRNC Mustafa Akıncı, TURKSOY Secretary General  Prof. Dusen Kasseinov, the Founding Rector of the NEU Dr. Suat Günsel, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irfan S. Günsel, the Rector  Prof. Dr. Ümit Hassan and the Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Fahreddin Sadıkoğlu  extended a plaquette to Vahid Novruzov (Azerbaijan),  Armat Bektasov (Kazakhstan), Jusup Matayev (Kyrgyzstan), Nodir Bobomyratov (Uzbekistan), Ishangukuly Ishanguliyev (Turkmenistan), Vera Frolova (RF Bashkortostan), Aleksei Topoev (RF Khakassia), Farid Valiullin (RF Tatarstan) and to  staff members of the Near East University Erdal Aygenç, Erdoğan Ergün, Mustafa Hastürk,  Hikmet Uluçam, Hasan Zeybek, Murat Allahverdi, Rana Emrahova and Aysel Mir-Kasymova.

Following the extending of plaquettes,  the exhibition was inaugurated by the President of the TRNC Mustafa Akıncı, TURKSOY Secretary General  Prof. Dusen Kasseinov and the Founding Rector of the NEU Dr. Suat Günsel together with the guests attending the ceremony.

The ceremony went on with  a recital featuring  Ilyas Abdullin from the Department of  Music of the Ataturk Faculty of Vocational Training of the NEU who played the violin.
