Photography exhibition on "Turkistan and Khoja Akhmet Yassawi"
In cooperation of TURKSOY with the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi University, the Yıldırım Beyazıt University of Ankara hosted the photography exhibition entitled "Turkistan and Khoja Akhmet Yassawi".
The exhibition inaugurated on May 8th, 2018 gfeatured 40 photos of Turkistan along with 30 works from the collection of the Khoja Akhemt Yassawi University of Turkistan as well as manuscripts of Khoja Akhmet Yassawi dating back to the Middle Ages.
In the opening speech he delivered at the event, TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Prof. Dr. Fırat Purtaş touched upon the long-dating cooperation between TURKSOY and the Yıldırım Beyazıt University of Ankara and said:
"These are some of the works resulting from our 14th Photographers' Gathering which we held in Turkistan, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World last year. Every year, TURKSOY brings together photographers of the Turkic World and contributes to the worldwide promotion of its beautiful nature, cultural heritage and people. This exhibition features photos resulting from the 14th Photographers' Gathering of TURKSOY along with some photos and ancient manuscripts from the collection of the Akhmet Yassawi Museum in Turkistan. We hope that you will enjoy visiting this exhibition” .
Prof. Dr. Purtas who added that hosting this exhibition, the Yıldırım Beyazıt University of Ankara also strengthens the ties between Anatolia and Turkistan expressed his wish as to the further continuation of this fruitful cooperation in the future.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of the Yıldırım Beyazıt University of Ankara Prof. Dr. Veli Çelik who also took the floor at the event expressed his happiness as to the fact that this exhibition will contribute to the promotion of Turkistan and its cultural heritage and said that it is a great pleasure for him to welcome the delegation from Turkistan on this occasion. Prof. Dr. Veli Çelik added that the Yıldırım Beyazıt University of Ankara is planing to host an exhibition featuring oil paintings from the collection of TURKSOY.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition gathered Sıddık Çalık from the Faculty of History of the Yıldırım Beyazıt University of Ankara, the Research Fellow Dr. Tekin Önal and the Secretary of the Faculty of Law of the Yıldırım Beyazıt University of Ankara Mehmet Şahballı along with many scholars and students. The exhibition will be open to visitors for two days.
