Nevruz celebrations of TURKSOY came to an end in the Balkans
This year, Nevruz celebrations of TURKSOY started in Kastamonu,
the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2018 and ended with events held in the
Balkans.
Nevruz Fire lit in the Cultural Capital
of the Turkic World
As every year, Nevruz celebrations of
TURKSOY started with the lighting of the Nevruz Fire which took place on the
Republic Square in Kastamonu on March
21st.
Celebrations which started within the
framework of the Opening Ceremony of Kastamonu, the Cultural Capital of the
Turkic World 2018 held in the presence of the Prime Minister of the Republic of
Turkey Binali Yıldırım featured performances of more than 350 artists from 13
countries and 18 regions of the Turkic World. Celebration events took place in
the presence of high-level officials and representatives of many diplomatic
missions in Turkey and were broadcasted
live on the Turkish Radio and Television Channel TRT.
Nevruz celebrations featuring artists
from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and
autonomous republics of the Russian Federation Altai, Bashkortostan, Sakha
Yakutia, Dagestan, Kabardino – Balkaria and Buriatia along with the Autonomous Territorial
Unit of Gagauzia (Moldova) as well as Macedonia,
Kosovo, Serbia and Bosnia Herzegovina went on with concerts in Ankara, Kayseri
and Istanbul.
Nevruz Fire in the Balkans
As a tradition of Turkic peoples transmitted
from one generation to the next as their common cultural heritage for more than
thousand years, the Nevruz Fire which was lit by TURKSOY in Kastamonu this year reached out to the
Balkans.
The celebrations brought artists from
all corners of the Turkic World together with their kindred peoples in the
Balkans.
The Nevruz Tour of TURKSOY to the
Balkans started with a concert in the city of Zenica in Bosnia Herzegovina and
went on in Sarajevo and Mostar.
The next stops of the celebrations held
under the motto “Colours of the Turkic World” were Montenegro (Cetinje), Albania (Tiran) and Macedonia (Gostivar).
Nevruz Celebrations of TURKSOY which
started with the lighting of the Nevruz Fire in the Cultural Capital of the
Turkic World 2018 ended with wonderful
concerts in Plovdiv, the European Capital of Culture 2019 and Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. With
8 concerts held in the Balkans, the joy of Nevruz, the common celebration of
humanity for world peace reached out to a large audience with colourful events
which left undelible traces in the memories of all spectators and introduced
the rich cultural heritage of Turkic
peoples to the audience with colourful
songs and dances to them.
This time, Nevruz celebrations of
TURKSOY traditionally held every year featured 16 concerts in 6 countries with
the contribution of more than 350 artists from 18 different regions of the
Turkic World. The concerts featured performances of singers from TURKSOY member
countries as well as folk dances by ensembles such as “Halay” and “Sherur” from Azerbaijan “Kazina” from Kazakhstan, “Simbat” and “Taacı” from Kyrgyzstan, “Marigiana” from Turkmenistan, the
“Demiurk Art Academy” from Turkey, the State Folk Dance Ensemble of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism
of the Republic of Turkey, “Duz Ova”
from Gagavuzia (Moldova) and “Ak
Terme” from Bashkortostan (RF) along with ensembles from Uzbekistan, Dagestan (RF), Kabardino-Balkaria,
Kosovo, Macedonia, Serbia and Bosnia Herzegovina.
