The Balkar poet Kaisyn Kuliev was commemorated in Baku
In cooperation of the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan and the National Library of Azerbaijan a conference dedicated to the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birthday of the Kabardino Balkarian poet Kaisyn Kulievwas held in Baku on December 8th, 2017. Within the framework of the event, a collection of Kaisyn Kuliev’s works entitled “God’s Sword” and published by TURKSOY was also presented.
The opening speech of the event was delivered by the Director of the National Library of Azerbaijan Kerim Tahirov who gave some information on joint activities carried out in cooperation with TURKSOY.
The Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan Vagif Aliyev who also delivered a speech at the event stressed the importance attached by TURKSOY to illustrious personalities of the Turkic World as well as to its rich cultural heritage. Mr. Aliyev who also congratulated Prof. Dusen Kasseinov for his reelection to the post of TURKSOY Secretary General in the meeting of the Permanent Council of TURKSOY held in Turkistan on December 5th, 2017, extended his gratitude to him for chosing Azerbaijan as his first destination following his reelection.
TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov stressed that apart from commemorative events held in the Republic of Kabardino Balkaria, the first event to commemorate the anniversary of the great poet of the Turkic World Kaisyn Kuliev was held in Azerbaijan. Mr. Kasseinov who extended his gratitude to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Library of Azerbaijan for hosting the event added that further commemorative events will be held in other TURKSOY member countries as well to pay tribute to the memory of this great poet.
The Deputy Chairman of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and Director of the Nizami Institute of Literature Ord. Prof. Dr. Isa Hebibbeyli, the Director of the "Kaspi" Press and Education Center, poet and author Sona Veliyeva and the Chairman of the Union of Authors of Kabardino-Balkaria Mutallip Beppayev who also delivered a speech at the event stressed the key role played by TURKSOY in the promotion of illustrious authors of the Turkic World and expressed their wish as the organization of such events in all Turkic republics.
In the speeches they delivered at the event, the great contemporary poet of Azerbaijan Nariman Hasanzade, the Deputy Chairman of the Union of Authors of Azerbaijan and poet Fikret Koca, Prof. Dr. Rustem Kamal from the Slavian University of Baku and Prof. Dr. Elman Guliyev from the State University of Pedagogical Studies of Azerbaijan gave some information on the life and work of the Kaisyn Kuliev and extended their gratitude to TURKSOY for its publication of a collection of Kuliev’s works in Azerbaijani, Balkar, Kazak, Kyrgyz, Uzbek and Russian.
The Rector of the Academy of Contemporary Human Sciences of the Republic of Kabardino Bakaria Prof. Aliy Atabiyev, the people’s poet of the Karachay-Circassian Republic, Editor of the “Mingi-Tau” Journal and Deputy Chairman of the Lermontov Committee of Russia Askar Doduyev who also took the floor at the event recited poems by Kaisyn Kuliev.
At the end of the conference, TURKSOY Secretary General Dusen Kasseinov extended TURKSOY’s Medal of Molla Panah Vagif to Vagif Aliyev, Isa Hebibbeyli, Sona Veliyeva and Resad Mecid. The Deputy Chairman of the Lermontov Committee of Russia Askar Doduyev extended the Medal of Kaisyn Kuliev to Vagif Aliyev, the people’s poets Nariman Hasanzade and Fikret Koca and to the Representative of Azerbaijan to TURKSOY Elchin Gafarlı.
