International Symposium on « Khoja Akhmet Yassawi’s Heritage and Turkistan » was held in Turkistan
An
International Symposium on « Khoja Akhmet Yassawi’s Heritage and Turkistan »
was held in Turkistan, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2017 with the contribution of the
International Organization of Turkic Culture.
The symposium held within the framework of
events to celebrate “Turkistan, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2017” in line with suggestions of the
President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev stated in his article
“The Course Towards the Future: The
Modernization of Public Conscience” took place with the contribution of the “Azret
Sultan” State Museum of the Ministry of Culture and Sports or Kazakhstan and
the Akhmet Yassawi Kazak Turkish International University.
The opening speech of the symposium gathering
more than 30 historians and museum
experts from Turkey, Uzbekistan, the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan was
delivered by the Director of the "Azret Sultan" State Museum Nurbolat
Akhmetzhanov. Akhmetzhanov who greeted the participants and welcomed them to
the symposium read the message conveyed by the Minister of Culture and Sports
of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arystanbek Muhamediuli.
The Representative of Kazakhstan to TURKSOY
Dr. Askar Turganbaev who also delivered a speech at the symposium stressed the
importance of this symposium for the promotion of national values. Dr. Turganbaev
further expressed his conviction as to the fact that scholars of the Turkic
World will make a strong contribution to the research on the heritage of
Yassawi.
The first session of the symposium
featured the presentation of the book on
papers of the 3rd Forum of Museums of TURKSOY held in Ulan Batur the
capital of Mongolia and entitled "Costume Collections of Museums of
Eurasia: research and evaluations". The first copies of the newly published book were offered to
the "Azret Sultan" Museum and the library of the Akhmet Yassawi International
Kazak-Turkish University. The book featuring 26 reports by experts from
Mongolia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Turkey and
Uzbekistan on costumes and museums was presented by its editor and curator of
museum projects of TURKSOY Mrs. Liliya Sattarova who was the former Representative of Tatarstan (RF) to
TURKSOY.
At the symposium, Mrs. Sattarova presented
a paper on “TURKSOY and the Interaction Among Museums of the Turkic World” and touched upon the role of TURKSOY in the
promotion and exhibition of the cultural heritage of the Turkic World in
museums of various countries worldwide.The symposium aiming at the evaluation
of issues regarding the promotion of sacred monuments and sites as well as the preservation of historical and cultural heritage went on with sessions on "The Heritage of Khoja Akhmet Yassawi and
the Sustainability of Turkic-Islamic Civilization", "Spiritual
Awakening and Turkistan" and "Sacred Sites, Culture Tourism and
Museums". Issues discussed in these sessions included the role of Khoja
Akhmet Yassawi’s heritage in the history of Turkic peoples, the life and work
of the great spiritual philosopher, his legacy for world civilization and
museums in Turkic republics.
