Painting Exhibition "From Altai Mountains to the Balkans" in Plovdiv, the European Capital of Culture 2019
The Painting Exhibition of the Turkic World From Altai Mountains to the Balkans featuring paintings of TURKSOY's collection was inaugurated by TURKSOY Secretary General Prof. Dusen Kasseinov in Plovdiv, the European Capital of Culture 2019. The opening ceremony of the exhibition organized in cooperation of the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY with the Consulate of the Republic of Turkey in Plovdiv and the Trakart Cultural Center took place within the framework of the celebration of the Turkish National Holiday October 29th.
The exhibition held in the historical city of Plovdiv which will bear the title of European Capital of Culture in 2019 features 33 colourful paintings by artists of the Turkic World.
In the speech he delivered at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Prof. Dusen Kasseinov said: "It is a great happiness for us to be here and present colourful paintings by artists of the Turkic World to you in Plovdiv which is an important city of Bulgaria in terms of culture and art. Let me therefore express my gratitude to the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Plovdiv and the Trakart Cultural Center for their kind invitation. I would also like to thank the people of Bulgaria as well as our kindred communities for their warmhearted hospitality from the bottom of my heart".
The Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Plovdiv Huseyin Ergani who also delivered a speech at the opening of the exhibition stressed the fact that the paintings displayed clearly prove the richness of Turkic culture as well as the extent to which it is widespread. Mr. Ergani further extended his gratitude to all artists for their contribution to the organization of this exhibition through their works.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition gathered officials of local authorities as well as representatives of foreign missions in Plovdiv along with many scholars, painters, journalists and guests.
The opening ceremony was followed by a short concert featuring music of the Turkic World performed by artists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.
- Official Meetings of Secretary General Kasseinov in Bulgaria -
Within the framework of his diplomatic initiatives to develop ties of TURKSOY with Balkan countries, Secretary General Prof. Dusen Kasseinov met with officials in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
Following the inauguration of the Painting Exhibition of the Turkic World From Altai Mountains to the Balkans, Prof. Kasseinov came together with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Sofia, H. E. Suleyman Gokce. In the meeting which took place in a sincere atmosphere, both parties exchanged views on ties between Turkey and Bulgaria as well as on activities carried out by TURKSOY.
Mr. Kasseinov who also met with the Mufti of the Muslim Community of Bulgaria Dr. Mustafa Hacı, exchanged views with him on the participation of the kindred Turkic community of Bulgaria in cultural and social acitivities.
Prof. Kasseinov who also went to the Center of Asian Languages and Cultures of the University of Sofia visited the Centers of the latter for Kazak and Azerbaijani Language, History and Culture. Furthermore, Prof. Kasseinov made a presentation on TURKSOY for turcology students of the Center of Kazak Language Culture and History. The presentation took place in the presence of the Chief of the Diplomatic Mission of Kazakhstan in Bulgaria Temirtay Izbastin.
During his offivial visit to Sofia, TURKSOY Secretary General Prof. Kasseinov also paid a visit to the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Sofia where he came together with Ambassador Nargiz Gurbanova. The dinner hosted by H. E. Gurbanova in Honour of Secretary General Kasseinov gathyered the Ambassador of the the Republic of Turkey to Sofia, H. E. Suleyman Gokce and the the Chief of the Diplomatic Mission of Kazakhstan in Bulgaria Temirtay Izbastin.
In the speech he delivered here, Prof. Kasseinov mentioned the inauguration of the Baku-Tblisi-Kars Railway and the Painting Exhibition of the Turkic World From Altai Mountains to the Balkans in Plovdiv on October 30th, 2017 and said: "Today is a historical day for the Turkic World. As a matter of fact, the Presidents of our countries have come together in Baku to inaugurate the Baku-Tblisi-Kars Railway linking cities of the modern Silkroad to one another, and we have come together here in Sofia to strengthen our ties with our kindred country Bulgaria and introduce the culture and art of the Turkic World to its people."
