Visit of a delegation of Macedonia to TURKSOY Headquarters
The MP of Macedonia and Chairman of the Group of Friendship between the Parliaments of Macedonia and Turkey Mr. Enes Ibrahim met with TURKSOY Secretary General in TURKSOY Headquarters.
In the meeting, Mr. Ibrahim stressed that ties between Macedonia and TURKSOY have strongly developed within the last few years and said: "In July this year, the Youth Chamber Orchestra of TURKSOY gathering brilliant young artists of TURKSOY member countries gave concerts in Skopje and Ohrid. The concert which took place in Skopje was attended by a high-level protocol members and bureaucrats of Macedonia was particularly appreciated by the entire audience. Official visits of Mr. Kasseinov in Macedonia will certainly also contribute to the development of ties between countries of the Turkic World and Macedonia."
Mr. Ibrahim who stressed that further cooperation is needed to introduce the culture and art of the Turkic World in the Balkans added that it is important to build the infrastructure necessary for the promotion of Turkic culture in the Balkans and stressed that joint projects which will bring artists of the Turkic World together more often must be therefore encouraged.
TURKSOY Secretary General Kasseinov who gave some information on activities carried out by the International Organization of Turkic Culture said that the tour of the Youth Chamber Orchestra of TURKSOY to the Balkans was the first step of the cooperation between TURKSOY and Balkan countries. Mr. Kasseinov further said that the scope of this cooperation will be widened through other activities to be carried out in the coming years. These will include cooperation events featuring the Youth Chamber Choir of TURKSOY, tours of the Orchestra of Folk Instruments of TURKSOY as well as gatherings of painters, photographers, poets, authors and composers of the Turkic World. Mr. Kasseinov stressed that a goodwill agreement to be signed by TURKSOY and Macedonia will make it easier to introduce the culture of Macedonia and of our kindred Turkic peoples living there and said that TURKSOY is looking forward to a positive initiative of the Ministry of Culture of Macedonia and that this agreement could be signed in the next few months.
The MP of the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Enes Ibrahim said that he will take the steps necessary to ensure positive results regarding the approval of such an initiative by the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia and the Macedonian government. Mr. Ibrahim stressed that the TURKSOY and Macedonia have fruitfully cooperated so far and that joint initiatives will be undertaken to smooth out shortcomings in the field of culture and art.
The meeting took place in the presence of the Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia Mr. Celil Ahmed and the Director of the Agency for the Preservation of Minorities of Macedonia Mr. Ilhan Rahman.
