International Media Forum in Turkistan

TURKSOY Secretary General  Dusen Kasseinov  attended the First International Media Forum entitled "Information and the Turkic World"  organized by the International Turkic Academy TWESCO and the Governorate of Southern Kazakhstan  within the framework of events to celebrate the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2017.

The forum gathered chairmen of international organizations, directors of  news agencies and the press media of Azerbaijan, Bashkortostan (RF), Belgium, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tatarstan (RF), Turkey and Kazakhstan  along with journalists, intellectuals and statesmen.

The opening speech of the forum moderated by the Chairman of the Turkic Academy Darhan Kıdırali was delivered by the Governor of Southern Kazakhstan Janseyit Tuymebayev. Mr. Tuymebayev said that the forum is one of the most important events carried out within the framework of events to celebrate the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World 2017.  The Governor also extended his wishes of success to all participants of the forum featuring joint information issues.

The international forum featured two panel discussions on mutual exchange of information and the creation of a joint televisin channel. The first panel on the mutual exchange of information in the Turkic World  featured contributions by the Member of the Board of Management of the Union of Journalists of Azerbaijan  and Chief Editor  of the "Şark" newspaper Akif Aşırlı Valiyev, the Chief Editor of the News Agency of Uzbekistan"Türkistan Press" Ulugbek Asrorov, the Chief Editor of the "Aykın" newspaper of Kazakhstan  Nurtore Jusip, the Chief editor of the Anatolian News Agency of Turkey Faruk Tokat, the secretary responsible for the official newspaper of Kyrgyzstan "Kırgız Tuusu"  Nazarbek Bayjigitov and Kursad Zorlu from the “Yeniçağ” newspaper. Participants of the first session moderated by D. Kıdırali stressed the fact that the integration of the Turkic World will not be fully achieved unless joint information policies are developed.

The second panel gathered the Project Manager of the Turkic Council  Ceyhun Şahverdiyev, the Director of "TRT-Avaz" Murat Akkoç, the Representative of the ITV İçtimai Television and Radio  Company to Central Asia and Kazakhstan  Fuzuli Mecidli, the Assistant Director of the National News Agency of Kyrgyzstan"Kabar"  Tınçtıkbek Karımsakov, the programm director of the "NTV" News Channel Аhmet Yeşiltepe, the Director of "EURELIZ", the Company of Media and Strategic Communications based in Brussels, the journalist  Eli Haciyeva and the Chief Editor of the newspaper "The President and the People"  Marat Tokaşbaev. The second panel moderated by the Assistant Director of the  “Habar” News Agency  Rinat Kertayev featured  exchanges of participants on the initiative expresed by the President of Kazakhstan at the Bodrum Summit in 2014 regarding the creation of a common television channel of the Turkic World.                     

In the forum, the first winners of the International  Ismail Gaspıralı Media Award  aiming at the motivation and support  of activities to promote the Turkic World were gratified. 

Within the framework of the forum, organizers also offered the possibility to participants to take part in various cultural activities to discover the culture and history of Southern Kazakhstan.
