Fourth Conference on Pioneers of the Turkic World: The Chuvash Poet Constantin IVANOV
The Fourth Conference on Pioneers of the Turkic World took place in TURKSOY Headquarters on April 20th, 2017.
The conference on the life and work of the Chuvash poet Constantin Ivanov took place in the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bulent BAYRAM from the Kırklareli University and started with the opening speech of TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Fırat Purtaş.
In the speech he delivered at the conference Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bulent BAYRAM Bayram gave an insight into the history and social structure of the Chuvash people. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bulent Bayram further talked about the link between the Chuvash and Turkish language and gave some information about Constantin Ivanov, the founder of Chuvash language and literature.
In his speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bulent Bayram said: "Ivanov was born in Ufa on May 15th, 1890. His family's ancestors were the founders of the village where he was born. Ivanov's family was cultivated. This had a strong impact on Ivanov's artistic evolution. Ivanov went to the Siberian Chuvash Pedagogical School which he was one of the first students of. This is also where carried out all his professional activities. He knew Russian literature very well and translated many works. He was particularly influenced by Lermontov. Ivanov grew up in an environment where his mother tongue and Chuvash culture were predominant. This played a key role in his interest in folklore. Together with Ivan Yakovlev, Konstantin Ivanov was one of the most important personalities who laid the foundations of modern Chuvash identity.''
The conference ended with the handing over of certificates of appreciation by TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Prof. Dr. Fırat PURTAŞ.
